This is my very first "Teaser Tuesday" post! This meme is hosted by Ambrosia @ The Purple Booker every week, and the rules are very simple.
RULES
* Grab you current read.
*Open to a random page.
*Share two "teaser" sentences from somewhere
on that page.
*BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS!
(Make sure that what you share doesn't
give too much away! You don't want
to ruin the book for others!)
*Share the title and author, too, so that other
TT participants can add the book to their
TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
Here are my teasers!
"Behind her expression I see a warning, something dangerous but not directed at me. An unsettling feeling tries to creep into the pit of my stomach, but I push it away faster than it can take effect." -- Location 233
"I feel two strong arms grip my waist and steady me. My eyes are closed, and the heady scent of masculine cologne brings me back to reality." -- Location 454

His voice changes from a purr to something deeper, more dangerous. “Do you know what it takes for me not to taste you? Your sweet blood sings to me. I am possessed whenever I am near you. I seek you out and resist the urge to hunt you, like the predator I am. It is a game I play unbeknownst to you.”
I close my eyes and hold my breath waiting for something to happen. Wanting something to happen.
“You don’t have to be afraid of me,” Toby whispers against my cheek before I feel a gush of wind and he is gone.
The curse that has haunted me from birth carries with it dark secrets and nightmares.
The very curse I want no part of.
I’m sent to visit distant family in Rome for my eighteenth birthday and it is there that I first lay eyes on Dominic. When our worlds collide, a dangerous and forbidden love unfolds. A world full of secrets and lies. A world where we teeter on the edge of deception and truth.
Until I meet the one that lurks in the shadows. The one that will turn my little world on its axis. The one that I’m supposed to be afraid of.
The one that reveals the dark and twisted reason I am coveted.
My bloodline.
As my regular visitors and readers know, I'm a HUGE fan of paranormal romance and urban fantasy, especially of the YA variety.
This is a debut novel, and the vampire mythology in it is unique to this writer. There does seem to be a love triangle, but still, I have found the story to be very interesting, and I really like the female protagonist, as well as Dominic, the guy she meets in Rome. Besides, I've always wanted to visit Italy -- especially Rome and Florence!
Last but not least, I really like that cover. The one element I don't quite like is the model's pouty lips. Everything else is great, though!
Looks like this one will get a very favorable review!

This is a neat concept. Sometimes I like random ideas and this idea fits the bill. I prefer the first quotation that you posted. It is intriguing and makes me want to know more about the book. I also love the cover!
ReplyDeleteHi, Brian!
DeleteYes, I think so, too! I had come across this meme before, but never joined in because I'm a slow reader. But, for next week, I'll be modifying the rules a bit. Instead of a current read, I'll feature one of those books that has been languishing on my shelves! Lol.
Yes, that first quote is very intriguing, and creates suspense!
As for the cover, I love it, too, except for the model's pouty lips. I think that's overdone. But I do love the rest of it!
Thanks for commenting!! <3 :)
I loved the teasers! And the book sounds like a really good one as well. I love paranormal romance. :)
ReplyDeleteHi, Steph!
DeleteYeah, I think I picked really good ones! The first one creates suspense and intrigue, while the second one has a "swoony" quality to it! Glad you loved them!
Like you, I ADORE paranormal romance!!

The writing is powerful and intriguing, Maria. I like the sound of a different take on the vampire aspect, though I'm not thrilled with love triangles... I look forward to hearing what you make of this one and hope you love it!x
