About the Book

Things have changed for seventeen-year-old Zoe ever since the otherworldly events that brought her together with the mysterious bounty hunter she calls X. In order to save Zoe and her family, X has done the unthinkable - he's given up his freedom and returned to captivity in the Lowlands.

X is determined to break the lords' hold on him once and for all, but being stripped of his power pushes him toward a darkness he's never experienced and a past he's never known. The secrets that surface could be the key to reuniting X and Zoe... or they could mean the destruction of everything they have been fighting for.

Gripping and full of heart, this epic continuation of Jeff Giles' series - which already has rave reviews from New York Times bestselling authors Kami Garcia, Melissa de la Cruz, and Cassandra Clare, among others - will bring readers right to the edge of everything.

Why I can't wait for this one!

Well, of course, it was these STUNNING covers that first caught my eye! But the plots (of both novels; see below) also sound exciting and very compelling! Besides, I LOVE the combination of fantasy, romance, and YA!! I've just come across this series, and only have one book to catch up on. Lol. And when I saw which YA authors were recommending this author, BOOM, I was SOLD on these books!!

This is the BESTSELLING first
book in the series!!

    1. Hi, Brian!

The original cover of the first book was totally different. I'm SO glad the publisher decided to change it!! :)

I don't know if there will be a third book. Sometimes authors just write duologies. I sure hope there will be a third one, though!

  8. PS An interesting lot of books on your banner. I’ve read only one, Winter’s Shadow. The author is Aussie, though you’d never know it from his books. I did an interview with him on my blog. I was intrigued by the idea of a man writing paranormal romance.

    1. Hi, again!

Thanks for the compliment on my blog banner!! <3 <3 I created it myself, with Picasa, a Google app for creating banners. Sadly, Google has retired it.....

I read "Winter's Shadow" myself, some time back. Mostly I loved it, although the ending was not quite what i had been hoping for.... If you'e like to read my review, it's listed on my "Book Reeiews" page, under "Young Adult Fiction Reviews".

WOW!! You did an interview with Hearle? I'm going to look it up on your blog!! Thanks for letting me know!!
I, too, was intrigued by the fact that a guy had actually written a paranormal romance novel, when I first came across "Winter's Shadow"!

      Thanks for the GREAT comment!! <3 <3 <3 :) :) :)

    1. Hi, Tammy!

When I looked up the first book on Goodreads, I found a different cover. But then I saw one that looked more similar to the cover of the second book, which I was happy about! I usually HATE it when publishers change the cover style from one book to another in a series, but THIS time, I'm SO glad they did!

      Thanks for commenting!! <3 :)
