Return to New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh’s darkly passionate Guild Hunter world, where human-turned-angel Elena Deveraux, consort to Archangel Raphael, is thrust center stage into an eons-old prophecy....

Midnight and dawn, Elena’s wings are unique among angelkind…and now they’re failing. The first mortal to be turned into an immortal in angelic memory, she’s regressing. Becoming more and more human. Easier to hurt. Easier to kill.

Elena and Raphael must unearth the reason for the regression before it’s too late and Elena falls out of the sky. Yet even as they fight a furious battle for Elena’s very survival, violent forces are gathering in New York and across the world.

In China, the Archangel Favashi is showing the first signs of madness. In New York, a mysterious sinkhole filled with lava swallows a man whole. In Africa, torrential monsoon rains flood rolling deserts. And in Elena’s mind whispers a haunting voice that isn’t her own.

This time, survival may not be possible…not even for the consort of an archangel.

Why I can't wait for this one!

Well, what can I say? Yes, this is yet ANOTHER series I've been wanting to dive into for the LOOOOONGEST time, and yet, never have.... Oh, it's SO frustrating!! Okay, I suppose I can just keep hoping that someday, I'll be able to read the first book, at the very least! LOL. Because I've heard nothing but RAVES about this series, and it encompasses three of my FAVORITE genres -- paranormal fiction, romance, and urban fantasy!!

ten books in this bestselling
series by clicking HERE!!

I've been writing as long as I can remember and all of my stories always held a thread of romance (even when I was writing about a prince who could shoot lasers out of his eyes). I love creating unique characters, love giving them happy endings and I even love the voices in my head. There's no other job I would rather be doing. In September 2002, when I got the call that Silhouette Desire wanted to buy my first book, Desert Warrior, it was a dream come true. I hope to continue living the dream until I keel over of old age on my keyboard.

I was born in Fiji and raised in New Zealand. I also spent three years living and working in Japan, during which time I took the chance to travel around Asia. I’m back in New Zealand now, but I’m always plotting new trips. If you’d like to see some of my travel snapshots, have a look at the Travel Diary page (updated every month).

So far, I've worked as a lawyer, a librarian, a candy factory general hand, a bank temp and an English teacher and not necessarily in that order. Some might call that inconsistency but I call it grist for the writer's mill.

What do you think of my
choice this week?

  1. I've read a couple of her books and really enjoyed them, Maria. I certainly not had sufficient angel goodness (and badness) in my life, so I'll keep an eye out for this one. Thank you for sharing!x

  4. It is so interesting the way in that angels are depicted in books like this. I just finished Danial Dafoe's Robinson Crusoe. In that book the main character has a dream about an angel. The angel is a lot like they were depicted in the Old Testament. Traditionally they were pretty scary creatures and often meant trouble for the person who they were visiting.

I agree with Greg, this is also a great cover.

    1. Hi, Brian!

Yeah, these angels are not quite your typical Bible angels. I'm curious to see how angels and their "consorts", aka spouses, get along in this series! Lol.

I also want to see how all of these angels, especially the female ones, kick butt!!

I haven't read much of the Old Testament (or the New Testament, either), but from what I've read, whenever an angel visited a human, the first thing they did was to reassure the human, telling them to not be afraid. I suppose I would jump out of my skin if I actually got to see a REAL angel!

Sometimes angels meant trouble, true. Like when the Angel of Death went through all of Egypt, killing the Egyptian firstborns (a story I HATE), and sparing the Jewish firstborns. But sometimes an angel visitation, although scary, meant good news, like when the Angel Gabriel announced the birth of Jesus to Mary.

Even though I'd be scared if I were to see an actual angel, I would still LOVE to see and speak with one. And I would really like to encounter a female angel. I don't think the Bible mentions any such angels. I think that's because of the misogynistic viewpoint in the biblical texts, sad to say.....

Oh, YES, I LOVE that cover!!! I LOVE her badass attitude!! YEAH!!!!
