    1. Hi, Emma!

Yes, this is an absolutely GORGEOUS cover!! Happily, I own this book, which I will soon start reading!

I've noticed that UK designers frequently create more beautiful covers than US designers. I wonder why....it's not all the time, but it does happen quite often,

  5. This is a really hard one, I was torn between Earth and Sky and A Thousand Pieces of you, but I love Earth and Sky more because it is really rare for me to find a purpled coloured cover which made it stood out! Thanks for sharing the info on the cover, I do agree the publisher's name coincidentally fits the title :P

    1. Hi, Marissa!

Yeah, I don't see that connection myself, except for the colors in the cover. But it is indeed a lovely cover! Those tones of reddish pink are so delicately shaded.....that's what made me think this image was a closeup from an Old Master painting. I was just amazed when I found it was actually a photograph! Glad you loved this cover, too!

  14. A thousand Pieces of You is absolutely gorgeous! I love the watercolor effect, especially since it is in purple shades, which is my favourite color. I haven't read this book but I think the contrast between two cities seems appropriate because the plot is about parallel universes.
This is definitely the kind of cover that would catch my attention in a bookstore. The book's plot sounds fascinating.

I won this book myself in a giveaway on the blog "Benish Khan" (the URL address is http://www.feministreflections.com/) . When I saw it, I KNEW I had to own the book! And what I loved most about the cover was that watercolor effect!! The plot is fascinating; otherwise not even a beautiful cover would have pulled me in. But then, Gray is a terrific writer!!

  43. I have read the book Jane Eyre and am used to seeing a female portrayed on the book covers. Like you, I had to think for a minute about the cover and I had to look at it a second time as I had initially thought the picture was a painting or drawing. Surprised that it was a photo. It is a beautiful cover and I suppose when I think about the complexities of the story and characters it is appropriate.

    1. Hi, Sharon!

So glad you love this cover!! It's just STUNNING, isn't it? And it is definitely remarkable that it's a photo, and not a painting or drawing! I also agree that it's very appropriate for the novel, because of the symbolism. A rose has thorns, and Jane met Rochester at Thornfield Hall. The thorns also refer to their drama-filled romance.

Roses have many types of symbolism that make them especially fitting for romantic relationships, which is why, of course, they're associated with Valentine's Day.
