From New York
Times bestselling author Gail Carriger comes a new novel in the world of
the Parasol Protectorate starring Prudence, the daughter of Alexia
Tarabotti.
When Prudence Alessandra Maccon Akeldama (Rue to her friends) is given an unexpected dirigible, she does what any sensible female would under similar circumstances - names it "The Spotted Custard" and floats to India in pursuit of the perfect cup of tea. But India has more than just tea on offer. Rue stumbles upon a plot involving local dissidents, a kidnapped brigadier's wife, and some awfully familiar Scottish werewolves. Faced with a dire crisis and an embarrassing lack of bloomers, what else is a young lady of good breeding to do but turn metanatural and find out everyone's secrets, even thousand-year-old fuzzy ones?

Why I'm waiting on this one!!
I keep saying that I want to read a
Steampunk novel, but just
haven't gotten around to it....so
I simply have GOT to start somewhere!
And what better book to start
off with than this one, which promises
to have a lot of colorful action,
with an equally colorful, female,
kick-butt protagonist?
(There's something about her
that reminds me of Hermione Granger...)
Also, just LOOK at that GORGEOUS cover!
I WANT that entire outfit!!!!
What do you think of my choice?
What fascinating book(s) are
you longing for this week?
you longing for this week?
Nice, I haven't heard of this one before. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHere's my Wednesday post.
Hi, Michelle!
DeleteI just found out about this book myself. Glad you like it!
You're very welcome for the sharing! Thanks for visiting and commenting!! : )
I love the cover! I haven't heard of this before now but it sounds interesting.
ReplyDeleteA great WoW! Sharon – Obsession with Books
Hi, Sharon!
DeleteYeah, I love the cover, too! And the plot sounds AMAZING! Glad you like this one, as well!
Thanks for dropping by and commenting!! : )
I also have not read any steampunk yet. I have a few relatives into it and I really do want to give it a try.
ReplyDeleteThere is also something that fascinates me about dirigibles. If only the history of air flight had progressed differently.
This one does sound fun.
Hey, Brian!
DeleteI really should have started on this type of literature by now....oh, well.... This one sounds like fun, as you say, so maybe I'll make my foray into this genre with this novel. On the other hand, I've had "A Conspiracy of Alchemists", another Steampunk novel, sitting on my shelves for some time now.....
I love dirigibles, too. Years ago, you used to see "the Goodyear blimp" -- as everybody called it then -- flying over Miami Beach all the time. I don't know why that stopped.....I really loved watching it coast slowly over the sky, especially on a hot summer evening!
Thanks for the nice comment!! : )
This book sounds fabulous! I am also looking forward to reading some other books by Gail Carriger! I hope you enjoy this one when you get a chance to read it :-D
ReplyDeleteSarah @ Good Books & Teacups

DeleteYes, it definitely does!! I had never heard of Carriger before, until this book caught my eye while doing some browsing on Amazon. I know I'll enjoy the ride when I get the chance to read it!
Thanks for the visit and the comment!! : )
I have Gail's first three books sitting in my TBR pile, waiting for a read, but I haven't quite gotten around to her yet. Great pick!
ReplyDeleteHere's my WOW
Hi, Bob!
DeleteI had never heard of her before, but when I saw the cover of this book, I KNEW I just had to feature it! Now I'm going to check out her other novels. Glad you like my pick!
Thanks for dropping by and commenting !! : )
I'm longing for Amy Bartol's new book!
ReplyDeleteMy Waiting On Wednesday!
This sounds like a really good read. Steampunk is not my first choice, but when done well I do enjoy it. I'm going to give this book a try.
ReplyDeleteYears ago when the Super Bowl was in my town the Goodyear Blimp passed over our home. There was just this quiet hum that made us go looking for what it was. Imagine our surprise when we looked up! That was a fun day. :)
Here's mine for the week: http://www.keeperbookshelf.com/waiting-on-wednesday-1
Hi, Marsha!
DeleteI haven't read any Steampunk novels myself, but I do want to!! They all sound like such fun, and this one is no exception! I'm glad you're going to give this book a try; I think you'll be amply rewarded.
Yeah, the good o' Goodyear blimp.....how I miss it!! I've never seen it as close as you have, though. I wish they'd bring it back!
Thanks for dropping by and commenting!! : )

DeleteYes, that cover sure ROCKS!! I have GOT to get this book, and yes, it does look AMAZING!!

Wow, what an amazing cover. Despite vowing not to begin any more series there has to be an exception to every rule and this is it.
ReplyDeleteHi, Tracy!
DeleteGlad you like this cover! It is indeed an amazing one! I'm so happy you're making an exception to your "not starting any more series" rule for this book! I don't think you'll regret it!!
