Waiting On Wednesday #50: The Bridge, by Karen Kingsbury

This is a weekly book meme, hosted by
which features future releases that
we book bloggers
are eagerly anticipating!

Here's my pick for this week!

Hardcover, 258 pages
Howard Books
October 23, 2012
Genres: Christmas Romance,
Christian Fiction, Inspirational,
Contemporary Romance

From the Goodreads Synopsis

Molly Allen lives alone in Portland, but she left her heart back in Tennessee with a man she walked away from five years ago. They had a rare sort of love she hasn’t found since...

Ryan Kelly lives in Nashville after a broken engagement and several years on the road touring with a country music duo. He can still hear Molly’s voice encouraging him to follow his dreams; Molly, whose memory stays with him. At least he can visit The Bridge—the oldest bookstore in historic downtown Franklin—and remember the hours he and Molly once spent there...

This sounds like a really sweet,
cozy story, perfect for
the upcoming holiday season!
There's a bookstore included in the plot, too,
as well as an older couple who are the owners.
Although tragedy strikes, this novel
is all about second chances,
so I know I'll be captivated as I read!
Besides, I've read several very positive reviews
for the ARC on Goodreads,
and no wonder, since
Kingsbury is a bestselling author!

What do you think of my choice?
What wonderful books
are you all eagerly awaiting
this week?

  3. While not my cup of tea your posts are so filled with enthusiasm that you almost make me want enthusiasm read it!

Since you asked as to what books everyone is waiting for, a good friend just published her first book last week. It is Mahogany: The Costs of Luxury in Early America by Jennifer L. Anderson. It is on deck and I am ready to begin it as soon as I finish what I am reading now. I am dying to get it started. I really like what I am reading now but it is taking me FOREVER!

  4. This isn't a genre I normally read but I recently found out this author lives in the same town I do (at least I think it was this author) and that actually makes me a bit curious. Maybe just the fact I could be shopping next to her at the grocery store and not even know it...

  5. Hey, Brian!

Oh, your coments are always so interesting and positive!! I love to read them!!

Thank uou so much for the compliment about my enthusiasm! I'm honored that I almost get you to read books that are not really your cup of tea.

That book you mention sure sounds interesting! I'm going to look it up.

BTW, I know how it feels when a book drags and drags...remember when I tried to read ANNA KARENINA? I sure tried hard, but I never really could get into that book...

Thanks again for the comment!! : )

  6. Hi, Candace!

Oh, wow, what a coincidence! What if you were to run into her in person someday? Who knows, she might be holding an author event in your nearest bookstore soon!!

I have never read anything by this author myself, but I've seen her in bookstores, and, since she's a bestelling writer, I want to try her out. Besides, I do enjoy reading Christian fiction from time to time. I'm sick and tired of coming across profanity in novels written for adults (which is why I read so much YA), as well as EXTREMELY explicit sex scenes.

This particular novel sure does sound like a winner! It promises to be very sweet and truly inspirational, not to mention romantic. (Oh, and I HATE country music, but of course I won't hear any of it played in the book. Lol.)

Thank you so much for commenting!! : )

  7. Maria, Yeah, I only just recently heard about her living nearby. I'm sure she does events around here somewhere.
I don't care for profanity or explicit sex either, but I've gotten use to it so it doesn't bother me. It's harder in movies cause I have to actually hear it.
I use to read some Christian fiction cause that's what my mom read and what I could easily get my hands on but in recent years I haven't really picked any up.

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog too!

  8. Hi, again, Candace!

I sure hope you're able to attend a Kingsbury author event, and get a book of hers, complete with her autograph!!

You know, in recent years, it's become so commonplace to see these things in novels. It's almost as if you can't have a bestseller unless you put those things in the book. I'm so glad to see that this author has hit the bestseller lists without compromising her standards and values!!

You're very welcome for the comment on your blog! I really must make a point of visiting more often!!

Thanks for commenting back!! : )
