Welcome to "Waiting On Wednesday"!!
This is a weekly event that
used to be hosted by
Jill @ Breaking the Spine, until
very recently.
I have continued to publish these
posts on my own, as I really
like this meme, which
showcases future releases we book bloggers
are eagerly anticipating!!

Here's my choice for this week!
Shadowcaster
(Shattered Realms, Book 2)
Hardcover, 560 pages
HarperTeen
April 4, 2017
Fantasy, Young Adult Fiction
Alyssa ana'Raisa is the
reluctant princess heir to the Gray Wolf throne of Fells, a queendom
embroiled in a seemingly endless war. Hardened by too many losses, Lyss
is more comfortable striking with a sword than maneuvering at court.
After a brush with death, she goes on the offensive, meaning to end the
war that has raged her whole life. If her gamble doesn't pay off, she
could lose her queendom before she even ascends to the throne.
Across enemy lines in Arden, young rising star Captain Halston Matelon has been fighting for his king since he was a lýtling. Lately, though, he finds himself sent on ever more dangerous assignments. Between the terrifying rumors of witches and wolfish warriors to the north and his cruel king at home, Hal is caught in an impossible game of life and death.
Set in the world of the acclaimed Seven Realms series, this is a thrilling story of the unfathomable costs of war, the allure of dark magic, and two principled and conflicted characters, drawn together despite everything they stand to lose.

Why I'm waiting on this one!
This is another of those series that I haven't started, in spite of owning the first book.... I'm beyond book addiction, lol. I must GORGE on books, so I keep wanting to buy more and more and more.... Sound familiar, fellow bookworms? So OF COURSE I MUST have this book!! Okay.....here's a New Year's Resolution, Maria! READ THE FIRST BOOK. (Preferably, BEFORE the second one arrives on the scene, and all greedy bookworms try to beat each other out getting it!! Lol.) Let's see how it goes! (Last but definitely NOT least -- that cover is all kinds of GORGEOUS!!!)
This is the first book in the series, with an equally GORGEOUS cover!!

Oh yes I NEED THIS! The cover's beautiful, the premise is gorgeously dangerous, and I HAVEN'T READ THE FIRST BOOK YET BUT I NEED THIS BECAUSE IT LOOKS SO AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant pick!
Here's my WoW
Amy @ A Magical World Of Words
Hi, Amy!
DeleteI'm glad you agree that this is a MUST HAVE book! Lol. That cover is indeed "gorgeously dangerous", as you so well put it!
What a coincidence that you haven't read this book, either, but yet, want the second one already. Well, it's not really a coincidence. This is how the bookworm's brain operates, lol.
Thanks so much for the compliment, as well as the GREAT comment!! <3 :)
Like you, I haven't started this series but man, is that cover gorgeous. I've been interested in Chima's work for some time and since I'm doing a Flight of Fantasy reading challenge, maybe I should work this series in this year. Hope you and your family had a great Christmas and New Year season. They are calling for our first "real" snow tomorrow but since it's only an inch, I think I'll survive.
ReplyDeleteHi, Barb!
DeleteI have seen comments on Goodreads about this cover, and so far, everyone agrees that it is indeed gorgeous. I love the cover of the first book, too! I really should feature these on my "shelf Candy Saturday" meme. I need to find out who created them, as the style is obviously the same on both.
We did have a great Christmas and New Year's! How about you?
So you're supposed to be getting snow tomorrow? You won't believe this, but I actually envy you! Lol. My husband and I drove down to Key West to celebrate the New Year there, and the temps were in the 80s! We were sweating as we walked around....but we had a GREAT time anyway! Key West is such a unique place! It's full of artistic vibes, and that's what I love about it!
Thanks so much for the GREAT comment!! <3 :)
I have a habit of doing that too--wanting (sometimes acquiring) later books in a series when I have still yet to read the first. I can't help myself. :-) I am just that sure I will enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteI really like the cover of this one and it sounds good too. I can see why you want to read it, Maria!
I hope you are having a good week.
Hi, Wendy!
DeleteAs I wrote in my reply to Amy, it seems that this is how the bookworm's brain operates -- we want to buy later books in a series, when we haven't read the first one yet. Lol. I'm SO glad you guys understand where I'm coming from! Hubby, who is not a reader, thinks this is very illogical behavior. Lol.
Yes, this cover is very beautiful! So far, I haven't found anyone who dislikes it. And the plot, of course, sounds so AWESOME.
We got back from Key West yesterday!! That's where hubs and I celebrated the New Year. Of course, I bought some books while down there! I went to the Hemingway House, and bought "A Farewell to Arms" at the gift shop, as well as a collection of Hemingway's poetry, and a guidebook. At a local Indie bookstore, I also bought two books on Key West memories by two different authors, and "Hemingway's Key West", a book about the author's experiences there. So my week started off just GREAT!!!! Lol.
I'm still on vacation, too! I return to work next Monday. Now I'm starting to get "the blues" about that.....
Thanks so much for the GREAT comment!! <3 :)
Thank you! I hope you like the inside, too!
ReplyDeleteHi, Cinda!
DeleteYou're very welcome! I'm SURE I'll enjoy reading both books, as both have AWESOME plots!!
Thanks SO much for stopping by! Happy New Year!! :D
