   Defy the Stars
(Untitled, Book 1)
Hardcover, 512 pages
Little, Brown Books for Young Readers
April 4, 2017

Romance, Science Fiction, Young Adult Fiction

Noemi Vidal is a teen soldier from the planet Genesis, once a colony of Earth that's now at war for its independence. The humans of Genesis have fought Earth's robotic "mech" armies for decades with no end in sight.

After a surprise attack, Noemi finds herself stranded in space on an abandoned ship where she meets Abel, the most sophisticated mech prototype ever made. One who should be her enemy. But Abel's programming forces him to obey Noemi as his commander, which means he has to help her save Genesis--even though her plan to win the war will kill him.

Together they embark on a daring voyage through the galaxy. Before long, Noemi begins to realize Abel may be more than a machine, and, for his part, Abel's devotion to Noemi is no longer just a matter of programming.

Why I can't wait for this one!

First of all, if it's by Claudia Gray it HAS to be GREAT!! I've read a couple of her books, and have been totally BLOWN AWAY!! Besides, this plot sounds fascinating, and seems to be an SF twist of "Romeo and Juliet" in some way. So, I'm DEFINITELY interested!! Do I need any other reasons? YES! It's SCIENCE FICTION!! That TOTALLY clinches it for me!!

What do you think of my choice?
Leave your link below, so I can
come check out your pick(s)!

  1. My mind is so warped, I thought it sounded like a romantic version of the last Alien movie *lmao* The one with Michael Fassbender as the robot? I didn't even think of Romeo and Juliet, lol But, I love this cover. Love the brightness of it, even though it looks like it's destroying that circle. Here's mine:

    1. Hi, Verushka!

Well, I wouldn't say that your "mind is so warped"! Lol. You just probably didn't read the entire synopsis. :) Oh, but I see what saw that there was a robot in this book, just like in the movie "Alien". Okay. I never saw any of those movies, BTW. I can't take horror books or movies AT ALL.

Oh, I LOVE this cover, too!!! It has a circle in it, and I ADORE circles! Yes, the brightness does look like it's destroying the circle, but I still love this image!

Thanks for such a GREAT comment!! <3 :)

  2. I've never read this author before but this book looks TERRIFIC!! Hope you enjoy, Maria! Great choice :) I also LOVE the cover, the pink and orange are so striking!!
    Here's my WoW
