This is a weekly event hosted by Jennifer, Lili,
Stephanie, and Tynga @ Tynga's Reviews!
As the title implies, this is all about
sharing the books you're adding
to your shelves, be they physical or virtual.
For the complete rules, and to sign up,

This week's haul!!

Giveaway Prize

Thanks to Vera @ Luxury Reading
for the giveaway in which I won
this book that blends
the genres of Steampunk,
paranormal romance, urban fantasy,
and young adult fiction
into one exciting, fascinating story!!

A Conspiracy of Alchemists
Liesel Schwartz

Books Purchased

I've long wanted to own this book,
which has won several
literary awards, and has been
praised by the likes of Tamora Pierce!
It's the first one in a great
fantasy trilogy!!

The Girl of Fire and Thorns
Rae Carson

I saw this next book for a great price on eBay,
and just couldn't resist!
One of my literary loves is classic
science fiction, and this volume
contains many great stories,
by such masters as Isaac Asimov,
Alfred Bester, George R.R. Martin, and
Frederik Pohl!!

The 1975 Annual World's Best SF
edited by Donald A. Wollheim

At last I was able to get this one!!
This story of fallen angels vs. the protectors
of humanity is sure to have a lot of exciting moments!!
Of course, there's also romance involved!

Embrace
Jessica Shirvington

I do read nonfiction from time to time,
and especially love the topic of spirituality.
This particular book deals with
the mystical experience,
and is a classic first published in 1901.
I found my copy on eBay, but
the very same edition is also available at
 The Book Depository and Fishpond.

Cosmic Consciousness
Richard Maurice Bucke

This book caught my eye because
of the very weird cover.
What a combination of visual elements!
The plot centers around a spooky carousel,
and there are selkies involved.
I love books that feature the sea,
along with a good dose of fantasy!!

Carousel Tides
Sharon Lee

I read an older edition of this novel
before I ever had a book blog,
and remember I loved it!
This newer edition is from Amazon,
and it joined my collection right away!
It's a vampire romance, written by
one of my favorite authors in the genre.
So I will definitely re-read it!!

Night's Pleasure
Amanda Ashley

For Review

I received this book from the author
and will be posting the review on Amazon.
It's a very interesting fantasy
involving time travel,
and the saving of an entire world!

Prophecy Foretold
Ron Hartman

So what do you think of my haul?
What great books have you
stacked on your shelves

  3. OMG, Maria! That horse on the cover of Sharon Lee's book! :)))) It made me laugh! Good haul, I'm dying to read The girl of Fire and Thorns too. That book has been on my TBR for a long time. Enjoy all! :)

    1. Hi, Kara!

Yeah, isn't that weird, even for a fantasy novel? But you know, bad covers (and I definitely consider this one to be pretty bad!), also catch a reader's eye. Lol.

I've had "The Girl of Fire and Thorns" on my TBR for the longest time, too. Maybe this year...

I went to your blog, but didn't see your usual feature, "The Postman Knock". However, I did see your second blogoversary giveaway, for which I congratulate you! I entered it, of course!!

Thanks for visiting and commenting!! :)

  5. All look to be great books! We have previously discussed how great these old Scientific anthologies are. I love the cover art on this one! Kind of like a planetary explorer/motor home vehicle driving up to a Jabba the Hut - like creature.

If you get around to Cosmic consciousness I look forward to reading your thoughts on it.

    1. Hey, Brian!

Oh, I know! I'm very happy to have gotten these books!

You're SO right -- the alien on the cover of the SF collection DOES resemble Jabba the Hut!! How funny!! Every one of these collections I've bought has come from eBay, from someone who bought them for himself years ago, and is now selling them. I don't know how he can give up such treasures, but well, maybe the really the money -- or the room, for newer books. Who knows?

I really want to read "Cosmic Consciousness"!! I've heard SO much about this book! You may be sure I'll review it when I do read it!

Thanks for dropping by and commenting!! :)
