Finale
(Caraval, Book 3)
Stephanie Garber
Hardcover, 416 pages
Flatiron Books
May 7, 2019
Fantasy, Young Adult Fiction
Welcome, welcome to Finale, the third and final book in the #1 New York Times bestselling Caraval series!
Welcome, welcome to Caraval...all games must come to an end.
It’s been two months since the last Caraval concluded, two months since the Fates have been freed from an enchanted deck of cards, two months since Tella has seen Legend, and two months since Legend claimed the empire’s throne as his own. Now, Legend is preparing for his official coronation and Tella is determined to stop it. She believes her own mother, who still remains in an enchanted sleep, is the rightful heir to the throne.
Meanwhile, Scarlett has started a game of her own. She’s challenged Julian and her former fiancé, Count Nicolas d’Arcy, to a competition where the winner will receive her hand in marriage. Finaly, Scarlett feels as if she is in complete control over her life and future. She is unaware that her mother’s past has put her in the greatest danger of all.
Caraval is over, but perhaps the greatest game of all has begun―with lives, empires, and hearts all at stake. There are no spectators this time: only those who will win...and those who will lose everything. . .

This plot description sounds different and unique. So many fantasy books these days follow certain formulas. I read the plot description of this one and it seems like it incorporates a lot of originality into the plot. If you read this series I would love to know what you thought of it.
ReplyDeleteHi, Brian!
DeleteYes, you're right; there are certain tropes in fantasy writing, as there are in other genres. And I agree -- this series does sound original and unique.
As I do own the first book, I hope to be able to read it sometime this year, bo be followed by the other two! Crossing my fingers....lol.
Thanks for commenting!! Enjoy your day! <3 :)
I hope you read Caraval soon and LOVE it! I didn't like it as much as I thought I would, but Finale follows a different main character whom I liked more. So hopefully it'll be an improvement! Caraval's lead - Scarlett - isn't great. But Tella is awesome :)
ReplyDeleteHi, Amy!
DeleteYes, I hope so, too!! But thanks for telling me about the protagonist, and that you preferred the one in "Finale". Well, I should be able to start on this series sometime this year!
So sorry I haven't visited back yet..... :( I've been INCREDIBLY busy!! I've had to lot of work for an ESOL class I'm teaching. (ESOL stands for "English for Speakers of Other Languages". I teach adults part-time, four nights a week, in a high school here in Miami.)
I promise to go visit your blog soon!! <3 <3 <3
Thanks for commenting!! HUGS!!!! <3 <3 <3 :) :) :)
Sooooo many series. I've been seeing this one around a lot too and like you, I'm pretty sure I own the first one somewhere (it may have been a Book Outlet grab). Sure hope you enjoy this series when you do get to start.
ReplyDeleteHi, Barb!
DeleteYes, there are SO many AWESOME series to get into!! Hmmmmm.....I'm getting an idea..... I'll shoot you an email later!
I think I'll enjoy this series! "Caraval" has 87,628 ratings and 16,031 reviews on Goodreads!!!
thanks for commenting!! HUGS TO YOU AND THE WONDER PUPS, AND "WOOF, WOOF" TO THEM!!! <3 <3 <3 :) :) :)

Hi, Alicia!
DeleteI'm not surprised you've seen it elsewhere. This is a VERY popular series! And yes, I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy all three books!
Thanks for commenting!! <3 :)
I’m afraid I haven’t heard of this trilogy, but it sounds intriguing. So many characters! Is the story seen from individual viewpoints or what?
ReplyDeleteHi, Sue!
DeleteSorry for the late reply....:( As yo know from my BBH post, I've gotten behind again, and it's all because of work! I might have to take a blogging break....BOO-HOO....
This is a YA trilogy. The first book, "Caraval", is supposed to be AWESOME!! I do own it, but haven't read it yet. Of course....lol.
In order to answer your question about this book, I would have to go looking for it in my not-so-small personal library. Not quite sure exactly where it is.....lol.
I hope I find it soon! :)
Thanks for commenting!! HUGS!!! <3 <3 <3 :) :) :)
Ah Caraval... I'm so behind on books I wanted to read! I still haven't read the first one. Heard good things though... :)
ReplyDeleteHi, Greg!

Gotta see where I put it, in this rather large personal library of mine.....lol. Now I want to read it more than ever, so I can go on to the other two books in this trilogy!!

I have the first one of this series too, and really need to get to it. I feel like I am saying that all the time about the books on my TBR shelf. LOL
ReplyDeleteHi, Wendy!
DeleteOh, I've heard nothing but GREAT things about "Caraval"!! And I do own it, although I haven't read it yet. Yes, I really need to get to it, too, and I am also saying the same thing as you about all the other books on my TBR shelves, whether virtual or real!! LOL. This seems to be the BANE of a bookworm's (wait, now it's "book dragon") existence! There are just SO many tempting books out there!! Sigh.....
Well, maybe I WILL get to this series this year! Crossing my fingers!!
