 Undying
 (Unearthed, Book 2)
Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner
Hardcover, 320  pages
Disney Hyperion
    January 22, 2019
Science Fiction, Young Adult Fiction

Trapped aboard the Undying's ancient spaceship and reeling from what they've learned there, scavenger Mia and academic Jules are plunged into a desperate race to warn their home planet of the danger humanity's greed has unleashed. From the mountains of Spain to the streets of Prague, the sequel to Unearthed is a white-knuckle ride that will send readers hurtling back to earth, and leave them breathless until the last page.

The earth's fate rests in Mia and Jules's hands in the epic conclusion to New York Times best-selling authors Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner's tomb-raiding sci-fi duology.

Why I can't wait for this one!

I've had my eye on the first book, Unearthed, for quite some time now. I NEED to read books by this dynamic duo! So I'm thinking that I'll ask Santa (aka my hubby) to give me the first book for Christmas, and the second one as an early birthday present....LOL.

But seriously, I do want to read these two books, because they combine two of my FAVORITE genres -- science fiction, and YA!!!!
BONUS!!
Both these books have DYNAMITE covers!!!

Here's the first book in this
bestselling duology!

New York Times bestselling author Meagan Spooner grew up reading and writing every spare moment of the day, while dreaming about life as an archaeologist, a marine biologist, and an astronaut. She graduated from Hamilton College in New York with a degree in playwriting, and has spent several years since then living in Australia. She's traveled with her family all over the world to places like Egypt, South Africa, the Arctic, Greece, Antarctica, and the Galapagos, and there's a bit of every trip in every story she writes.

She currently lives and writes in Asheville, North Carolina, but the siren call of travel is hard to resist, and there's no telling how long she'll stay there. She's the author of the award-winning Starbound trilogy (These Broken Stars, This Shattered World, and Their Fractured Light) and the Skylark Trilogy (Skylark, Shadowlark, and Lark Ascending),  as well as the Beauty and the Beast retelling, Hunted.

In her spare time she plays guitar, as well as video games. She also plays with her cat, and reads.

  3. I have not read either of these authors before, although their names do sound familiar. I can see why you want to read this, Maria. This and the first book do sound like they will be good. I really need to read more science fiction. Maybe I can make it a goal for this coming year . . . Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

    1. Hi, Wendy!

Their names should sound familiar, as they are very popular YA authors. You've probably seem their previous books on other blogs. I know that Kaufman has collaborated with Jay Kristoff, as well.

Yeah, I need to read more SF, too! That would be a good goal for me to have in the coming year, too. :)

Hope you and your family had a WONDERFUL Thanksgiving!! Thanks for commenting, and HUGS TO YOU AND MOUSE!!!! <3 :)

  4. The plot description of this one sounds a little like older style science fiction. Thus I was a little surprised that it is classified as YA. I tend to think of this kind of story as being aimed at a slighter older crowd. However, I believe that most YA is read by adults and some by older adults. Either way, the book sounds very good.

    Have a great Thanksgiving Maria!

    1. Hi, Brian!

Yeah, I kinda thought so, too, but maybe these authors have given this type of plot a new spin. I'm interested in it because it's not only SF, but YA, as well! YAAAAAAAAY!!!!

You are SO right that most YA is read by people who are not in that age group. I happen to be one of them! Lol. As you know from being a regular reader of this blog, I ADORE YA!! And I've found that many YA books do have deep themes, just like books written for older folks do.

I need to pick up the first book in this series, of course! Lol.

We did have a great Thanksgiving! Hope you guys did, too!! :)

Thanks for the interesting comment!! <3 :)

  6. Ooo... I LOVE the sound of this series - and those covers are fabulous - and the blurb is making me really, really excited! I'm going to insist on some book money for Christmas so that I can get hold of these... Thank you for sharing:)))
