Waiting On Wednesday #86: The Dream Thieves, by Maggie Stiefvater

This is a weekly event hosted by
It showcases future releases which
we book bloggers
are eagerly anticipating!!

Here's my choice for this week!

The Dream Thieves
(The Raven Cycle #2)
Hardcover, 448 pages
Scholastic Press
September 17, 2013
Paranormal Fiction, Thriller, Urban Fantasy,
Young Adult Fiction

Publishers Weekly Synopsis
(Amazon)

"Book two of Stiefvater’s Raven Cycle shifts from character-driven voyage of discovery to more of a paranormal thriller, ratcheting up the violence as the plot grows more complex. After the transformative events at Cabeswater in The Raven Boys, the context in which Gansey, Blue, Adam, Ronan, and Noah operate is further altered by the arrival of the Gray Man, a self-described hit man who replaces Barrington Whelk in providing occasional adult narrative perspective. The Gray Man brings with him the machinations of larger, previously unknown forces as he takes orders from a voice on the phone to hunt the Greywaren, the identity of which is revealed early on. But this book largely belongs to the loose cannon that is Ronan, as he works to better understand his supernatural abilities and their connection to his family. While Stiefvater’s offbeat, acutely observed characters continue to grow, they have shifted from developing a group interaction to reacting against one another, making this installment more tense and foreboding than its predecessor—and every bit as gripping." - Publishers Weekly starred review

Why I'm waiting on this book!

After reading the above, I want this book
in my hands right this minute!!
Thus far, I haven't been able to get
to this series, and
now the second book is out...
I love the synopses of both books!
So, I'm going to make it a point
to get this one as soon as it's released,
since I do have the first one.
Then I'll definitely jump right into
all the paranormal action!!

What do you think of my choice?
What exciting book(s) are you
eagerly anticipating this week?

  2. Hey Maria -

I would have to say that the comment about the "Character Driven Voyage" shifting to more of a thriller might disappoint me if I I was fan of the first book. Of course these descriptions can be really off base. I hope that you get to these soon Maria so we can hear what you think.

    1. Hey, Brian!

Hmmm....perhaps you have a point there. I wouldn't be able to concur with your opinion yet, but maybe I'll end up doing so...I'll only know when I actually read the book.

Gee, I hope I can get to them soon, too....I have books that I must read for blog tour reviews first. I do love doing blog tours, but then, other books I want to read are languishing on the shelves....

Thanks for visiting and commenting!! : )

    1. Hey, Michelle!

Well, the first book has my seal of approval, and I haven't even read it yet...lol. But I tell you, the plot DOES sound FABULOUS!!

Awww...you're very welcome!! I'm so glad I brightened your day!! The thing is, I LOVE blogs with colorful, creative design, such as yours and the one for "Readers Live A Thousand Lives"!! You and Teresa are kindred spirits with me! The three of us love black backgrounds with white or, very frequently, colored text.

How funny and coincidental that you were investigating my blog as I was leaving my message on yours! Great minds think alike, right? Lol. Thank you SO much for your compliments!! I wish I could claim the credit for the header, but I can't. It was designed for me by Jennifer Johnson, a graphic designer at the site, "Sapphire Blog Designs". I LOVE it!! When I ordered the artwork, I told her what font I wanted for it (Jokerman, found on Picasa), as well as that I ADORE the color blue!! She obviously loves it as much as I do!! That was it. She did the rest. She made GORGEOUS buttons, too!!

Thanks for complimenting the sidebar, as well. I enjoy collecting GORGEOUS blog buttons, too, as you can see!

I'm looking forward to talking books with you, too!! <3

Thanks for visiting and leaving such a wonderful comment!! : )

      Oh, thanks for the compliment!

  7. This book as sooooooo good. I loved it. Ronin's dreams are scary and the hitman roving the town were a bit over the top. but I loved that Blue and Gansey are growing closer together. It makes me a little sad that it leaves Adam on the sidelines. Plus Noah was hardly in the book and he was like comic relief.
Highly recommended Portable Gas Monitor device
