This week's haul!

Books Bought

Pegasus and the Flame
Kate O'Hearn
Trade Paperback, 352 pages
Hodder Children's Books
February 3, 2011
Fantasy, Mythology, Young Adult Fiction
Comments:  I have always loved horses, especially mythological ones!  This wonderful story mixes fantasy with reality, as a winged stallion suddenly
lands on a New York City rooftop in the middle of a storm.  Sounds fascinating!!
Besides, how could I possibly resist that GORGEOUS cover?  I featured it in one of my "Shelf Candy Saturday" posts
recently!

(SIGNED)
Christina Diaz Gonzalez
Hardcover, 304 pages
Alfred A. Knopf, October 9, 2012
Historical Fiction, Suspense, YA
Comments:  This novel sure sounds exciting!  Written by Miami native Gonzalez, it tells the tale of
Ani, a young girl who meets a boy, Mathias, and they gradually get involved in espionage.
This is not my usual type of read, but
I'm really intrigued!

(Lunar Chronicles #1)
Marissa Meyer
Hardcover, 307 pages
Feiwel & Friends, January 3, 2012
Romance, Science Fiction, Young Adult Fiction
Comments:  This SF retelling of the classic Cinderella story is sure to be very interesting! I love science fiction, and like the idea of a cyborg Cinderella.  Cyborgs are considered second-class citizens in this future society.  I'm looking forward to reading about how Cinder and her prince hook up!
(Lunar Chronicles #2)
(SIGNED)
Marissa Meyer
Hardcover, 452 pages
Feiwel & Friends, February 5, 2013
Romance, Science Fiction,
Young Adult Fiction
Comments:  This exciting sequel to Cinder introduces Scarlet and Wolf,
in a retelling of the classic, "Little Red Riding Hood". Cinder is still part of the story, and the plot thickens...
I've heard so many great things
about this series!  I'm very happy to have acquired the first two volumes!!

(Dark Dynasties #3)
Kendra Leigh Castle
Mass Market Paperback, 322 pages
Forever, July 31, 2012
Paranormal Romance, Urban Fantasy
Comments:  I have read (and reviewed)
the first two books in this series, and they are truly FABULOUS!  If you love well-drawn, realistic characters, and great world-building, you can't go wrong with these books.  The vamps and shapeshifters are exciting, lovable, and fascinating in the extreme!  I can hardly wait to sink my teeth into this one!

Jennifer E. Smith
Hardcover, 236 pages
Poppy/Little Brown, January 2, 2012
Contemporary Romance,
Young Adult Fiction
Comments:  This sounds like such a sweet, tender story... Some people
might say it's cheesy, but not me! I think it's wonderful how two young people meet in an airport and instantly fall in love! What can I say...I'm a hopeless
romantic, and very proud of it, too!

Books Received for Review

(The Demi-Monde Saga #2)
Rod Rees
Trade Paperback, 432 pages
William Morrow Paperbacks
February 19, 2013
Dystopian Fiction, Satire, Science Fiction

Comments

I received an ARC of this novel, from the publisher,
through TLC Tours.I'm currently reading the first one in
this series, which is titled The Demi-Monde
The sequel also takes place in a
computer-generated world, complete with racial prejudice,
sexism, and other societal dysfunctions.
The plot of this one, I'm sure, will be
as devilishly complex, and just as full of satire,
as the first one!
The characters are incredible, with my favorites being
Ella Thomas and Vanka Maykov.

So what do you think of my haul?
What interesting books
did you stack your
shelves with this week?
