  Christmas Makeover by Cami Checketts,
Amazon bestselling author

Chelsea Jamison has been infatuated with Drew Stirling longer than she's loved playing basketball, high-top sneakers, and the Knicks. Unfortunately, all Drew sees is the kid who kicked his trash in the high school free throw contest and not the girl whose heart breaks into a fast dribble when he's near. Drew makes an unexpected visit home to Echo Ridge and their friendship picks up where they left off as they scheme to make a teenage boy's Christmas dreams come true. When Chelsea realizes she's fallen for her best friend, she wonders if there is any hope of a relationship with Drew or if she's stuck in buddy-status for life.

The Candy Counter Heiress by Lucy McConnell, Amazon bestselling & award-winning author

Someday Reese Gates will own The Candy Counter at Kenworth's, but someday can't come fast enough when the manager threatens to bring in a national candy provider. Reese secretly takes matters into her own hands hoping to save her parents from additional worry and prove herself capable of running the company. Her deception deepens as she ropes computer guru Andy Edwards into helping her expand the business. Reese wanted to shake things up, but she wasn't planning on her heart getting caught in the mix by Andy's stolen kisses. If she can hold it together until after Christmas, then she can reveal her successful online company and her feelings for Andy. Unfortunately for Reese, even the best laid plans can melt like chocolate.

Soda Fountain Christmas by Connie E. Sokol, Amazon bestselling author

Keira Kenworth has one focus this holiday season: save her father's old-time department store from bankruptcy. She is not focused on Tayton Wells, the tall, dark, and genius marketing guru from downtown New York, hired to make it happen. He is as doubtful that her nostalgic connect-the-town ideas will succeed as she is about his numbers-first plan. However, it's not just their different approaches that cause sparks to fly. Working together on a fast deadline to save the store before Christmas, the unspoken connection between them grows. But will the tough decisions they face drive them back to their separate worlds, or will they lead to the beginning of love?

Christmas Makeover by Heather Tullis, Amazon bestselling author

Jonah Owens thought moving to Echo Ridge to open his art gallery would solve all of his problems. The need to sell his grandma's house adds an unexpected complication. It would be easier if his neighbor didn't have all those farm animals. Kaya Feidler's family has owned their land for nearly a hundred years--long before the neighbors were there. There's no way she's giving up the animal therapy business she's been struggling to make profitable. She gets a temp job helping Jonah in the gallery. Spending time together is a recipe for romance, but can they overcome their own hangups to be more than friends?

Hope for Christmas by Rachelle J. Christensen, Amazon bestselling & award-winning author

Anika Fletcher hates Christmas--its promises of good tidings and hope for the future are as tinseled as the ornaments on Kenworth's Hope Tree. Despite her feelings, Anika wants to maintain her daughter's faith in the magic of the season and gladly accepts a second job working with the handsome Carlos Rodriguez to restore Kenworth's old-fashioned soda fountain. Carlos is no stranger to hard times and slowly shares his life of light and joy with Anika as they work together. Just as her fragile soul begins to feel hope again, an ill-timed act of charity changes everything. Anika isn't sure who she can trust or if hope is worth nurturing--especially at Christmas when it's easy to enjoy a kiss and believe love can last longer than the season.

Book Synopsis:  To keep the balance between good and evil at the court of Annwyn, Prince Felan ap Gwyn has two weeks to marry and take the crown. But he wants more than just power—he wants love; a love he once had but was too stubborn to hold on to.

It took years for Jacqueline Ara to put her life back together after Felan abandoned her. And she doesn't want fairies back in her life—even if her heart still burns for him. With war in Annwyn looming and death bleeding into the mortal world, Felan and Jacquie will need to heal old wounds for one last gamble. It's all or nothing to save both worlds.

Book Excerpt

“We could start over.” There was that smile, the one that could derail all of her good intentions, the one that warmed her blood like she was standing in the sun and basking in its heat.

She knew if she lingered too long she’d get burned. “To what end? We both know it will end badly again.”

“It doesn’t have to.”

She pulled her hand back and crossed her arms. “If I do what you want. If I go to Annwyn and give up everything I want. Is that about right?”

He clenched his jaw and looked away. She doubted he was watching the sunlight on the waves.

“You would be asking me to give up my whole life.” The very thing she’d once thought he’d do for her. It seemed neither of them was able to make a compromise. “You could have any woman you wanted. I’m sure many would like to be Queen of Annwyn.”

He looked back at her. “But I don’t love them.”

Her heart did an erratic dance, and spun. Her lips curved and the words to reply automatically formed on her tongue. When she met his gaze, the words froze. In his pale green eyes, she saw so many shadows. Love shouldn’t be followed by so much darkness. It should make you happy, not afraid. When she’d been around him, she’d always felt safe and loved and happy. Even now, she was tempted to give him another chance—right up until she remembered he was fairy and wanted her to go to Annwyn. Even now, he wasn’t telling her everything.

“I can’t trust you.”

“I won’t take you back to Annwyn without your permission. No tricks or glamours. Can you at least think about giving us another try?”

“It’s not us that concerns me. It’s everything else.” She couldn’t imagine being surrounded by fairies all the time. If being in Annwyn didn’t make Felan happy, how was she supposed to like it? She was human, not fairy. And compared to them she would be dull and boring. A waitress couldn’t be Queen.

“I have twelve days, Jacqui. I’m running out of time.” For a moment, he looked tired and worn out, as if his long life was catching up with him.

“Why twelve days?”

“The magic is failing and damaging both worlds.”

“Right.” So he’d come to her to save the world—worlds. She could barely keep her life together. How did he expect her save the world and rule Annwyn?

“Read the paper, watch the news. Tell me what you think.” He stood. “I’ll come back tomorrow.”

“I’m not working tomorrow.” She glanced up at him. Should she have told him that?

“Then I’ll come to your house. Seven okay? Maybe we could go out somewhere.”

“Like a date?” He was asking her out on a date? When had they agreed to that? She hadn’t even agreed to see him tomorrow, and yet she didn’t want to say no. She wanted to see what he’d do, and she wanted to know more about Annwyn and what was happening. Would he tell her about his life in Annwyn, the parts he’d never shared?

“Only if you want it to be.” He walked around the table and placed a kiss on her cheek.

She turned and her lips brushed his. He smelled the way he always had, like summer and fresh grass, as if she could close her eyes and all her troubles would vanish on a sultry breeze. His lips were warm and tasted like coffee.

Half a second later, she realized what she’d done and pulled back. He gazed down at her, and for a moment she thought he was going to lean in and kiss her properly. She realized she wanted him to. The old lust reawakened, filling her belly with heat, and she was so tempted to fall back into his arms and pretend everything would work out fine.

He brushed a stray curl off her face, his fingers lingering for a moment. “Enjoy the cake.”

Book Excerpt

Jason grabbed the girl just as she began to sink. Despite the buffeting sea, he carried her back to the shore without straining and laid her fragile form on a swath of grass beyond the rocks—a slip of a child no more than nine or ten years old.
Plain cotton pants clung to the girl’s legs, and an elaborately embroidered tunic covered her slender frame—the typical garb of the zealots, but other than her clothing, she looked nothing like a zealot. Her skin was light and perfect, unblemished but for a trickle of blood on her arm. Her golden hair hung down to the middle of her back, and her round eyes held the color of the ocean.
Were Helena a believer, she’d have considered this the face of an angel.
Jason offered his bottle, but the girl shied away. Helena cradled the child’s head and tilted her chin while he trickled a few drops into her mouth.
The girl licked her cracked lips and opened for more. After she’d drunk her fill, she turned to Helena. Her eyes grabbed and held.  “The dream,” she said. “It’s true. I can see it in your eyes.”
Helena felt a sudden urge to distract the girl, to disrupt that penetrating gaze. “Who are you?”
The girl ignored the question, instead resting her hand on Jason’s forearm. His muscles twitched as if he were unsure whether to linger or jerk away.             “Your arm is hot,” she said.
“That’s because I’ve been running.”
The girl’s ocean-blue eyes opened wider. “From what?”
He withdrew his arm and flexed his fingers. “Are you from the Blessed Lands?”
 The girl nodded.
“Why would you make such a dangerous voyage alone in such a small boat?”
“I was in no danger,” she said.
He waved a hand at the flotsam, still surging in the tide. “But your boat’s destroyed, and it took us to save you.”
“Yes, I suppose.” She looked back out to sea as if expecting to find her boat still afloat. “Then I thank Lord Kanakunai for sparing me and delivering me to kind people who would help.”
“But who are you?” Helena said more insistently. The girl motioned for more to drink, this time grasping the bottle with both hands and emptying it. When she finished, she sat up and lifted her chin like royalty. “I am Kailani, the daughter of the sea and the sky.”

 David Front Page

About the Author

The urge to write first struck at age sixteen when working on a newsletter at a youth encampment in the woods of northern Maine. It may have been the wild night when lightning flashed at sunset followed by the northern lights rippling after dark. Or maybe it was the newsletter’s editor, a girl with eyes the color of the ocean. But he was inspired to write about the blurry line between reality and the fantastic.

Using two fingers and lots of white-out, he religiously typed five pages a day throughout college and well into his twenties. Then life intervened. He paused to raise two sons and pursue a career, in the process — and without prior plan — becoming a well-known entrepreneur in the software industry, founding several successful companies. When he found time again to daydream, the urge to write returned.
There Comes a Prophet is his first novel in this new stage of life. His second book, Along the Watchtower, will be available June 2013. And The Daughter of the Sea and the Sky is nearing completion.
David and his wife split their time between Cape Cod, Florida and anywhere else that catches their fancy. He no longer limits himself to five pages a day and is thankful every keystroke for the invention of the word processor.

Welcome to this stop in the
Blog Tour for The Shadow Princess
sponsored by
I.O. Book Tours!!

Here's the Cover Reveal
for this exciting new novel I
can't wait to read!!

The Shadow Princess
Mary Hart Perry
Trade Paperback, 302 pages
Diversion Books
February 11, 2014
Historical Fiction, Romance

Book Synopsis

To catch one of history's most notorious killers, a princess risks losing her family, her life-and her heart...
London, 1888: A year after Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee terror mounts in the city's slums. A killer has butchered two prostitutes, the crimes brutal even by London's hardened standards. Rumors of the murders reach Princess Vicky, daughter of Queen Victoria and grieving widow of the German Emperor Frederick III. When her niece Princess Maud visits, she brings with her even worse news-the Metropolitan Police have a suspect. It's Vicky's nephew, Crown Prince Eddy. Desperate to clear her family's name, Vicky rushes back to England.
Detective Inspector Thomas Edmondson believes there is a royal cover-up behind the killings. He will stop at nothing to expose the truth and bring a murderer to justice before he can kill again. But when Vicky joins him in searching for the man who will become known as Jack the Ripper, neither of them foresee the overpowering attraction that will draw together the royal and the commoner-or the danger their love puts them in.

Chapter 2 Excerpt

It took a moment for Vicky to grasp that last word.  "Murders?"   She shook her head, confused.  Then immediately terrified.  "Who has been murdered?"
Someone in the Royal Family?  Certainly, if the Queen had been assassinated, she'd have been informed by her son's ministers immediately.  Lord knew there had been more attempts on Victoria's life than most of her subjects were aware.  Thankfully, none had succeeded.  The little Queen seemed invincible.
Vicky reached out, took her niece by the hands and pulled her closer so that she could look her directly in the eyes.  "Maud, is this one of your silly pranks?"
"No, oh, no, not at all, Aunt Vicky!  I'm so sorry.  I thought you would have heard."
"Come, then."  She guided the girl over to the wine-colored velvet chaise by the window and sat her down.  Standing over her, Vicky gazed down at her sternly.  "I think you had better explain."
Sophie stepped up beside her mother, taffeta underskirts swishing as whisper-soft as her voice.  "Mama, I've read about them in the newspapers.  They're called the Whitechapel murders, and they're truly horrible.  She's not making it up."
In truth, Vicky hadn't read a newspaper in months.  What was the point when there was nothing she could do about either local or world events?  She was as powerless as her seamstress, cook, or even....loyal Agathe.
Maud slipped a gray parchment envelope from the satin reticule looped around her slim waist, then seemed unsure what to do with it, and so, left it in her lap.  "I guess I'd better just start at the beginning."
    "Excellent," Vicky said.
Maud took a deep breath.  "There have been most shocking murders recently in London.  Sophie's right, both in Whitechapel."
Violence in any large city was not uncommon.  Vicky knew, as well as anyone who had lived in London, how dangerous the East End was.  The district was little more than a mass of crude tenements built over cesspools.  Overcrowded.  Filthy and disease-ridden.  Occupied by the poorest of the city's poor.  Even the Metropolitan Police, whose jurisdiction it was, ventured into neighborhoods like Huxton, Whitechapel, and Spittlefields only in numbers and, it was said, fully armed.  She'd never even set foot in those horrid streets.  She was sure her parents' coachmen took care to avoid the area entirely.
"Go on," Vicky said when Maud hesitated, then sat down beside her.
"Women have been threatened or attacked with a blade before.  But most recently, on separate occasions, two were brutally stabbed to death in the street."  Maud's sweet face paled and she stared down at the paper rectangle beneath her nervously twitching fingertips.
