I am in love, enchanted, totally enthralled....
I have just started reading this novel,
and love it already! The writing can only
be described as exquisite, poetic, luminous.
It concerns a young boy who is
extraordinarily sensitive to sounds, while
remaining mute himself.
This is a must read for anyone who,
like me, loves the magic and wonder of
words and the imagination!

I'm slowly collecting them, so I can hopefully
start from the first one.
In this installment, Sarah seeks the
help of Ruithneadh to thwart her own
brother's evil plans.
Sure sounds exciting!!

I've always been a great fan of the tales of
King Arthur! This is a late 14th-century
Middle English story, done in a verse translation
by Simon Armitage.
The immortal J.R.R. Tolkien
has also done a translation of the tale,
which I must certainly acquire, too!
Robert Jordan

This is an expanded version of Jordan's
novella, from his "Wheel of Time" series, and
deals with a prophecy of a child born
to change the world, and the efforts to prevent
the forces of the Shadow from killing him.
I found this one at a bargain price
($4.99 plus tax) at a Walgreen's Pharmacy
here in Miami, so I couldn't pass it up!
Andrew Lane

I've been a lifelong Sherlock Holmes fan,
so when I saw this book featured on
the blog Alluring Reads, well, I simply had
to own it! I love the idea of Holmes
as a teen, using his remarkable sleuthing skills
even then. Here he's on break from
boarding school, investigating the mysterious
deaths of two local people
in the county of Hampshire, England....
Oh, I am ecstatic!!
John Berendt

Travel, True Crime, Art, Architecture,
Nonfiction
This was another bargain find, again
at $4.99 plus tax! While this is not
my usual type of read, I do love art and
architecture, so I bought it. Besides, I had heard
of Berendt's success with his first book,
and decided to try this one.
The 'plot' concerns the burning down of
the Fenice Opera House in Venice, Italy,
and Berendt's subsequent
investigations into the probable cause.
