"One of the most visionary, original, and quietly influential writers currently working" (The Boston Globe) returns with a brand-new novel.

In William Gibson's first novel since 2014's New York Times bestselling The Peripheral, a gifted "app-whisperer," hired to beta test a mysterious new product, finds her life endangered by her relationship with her surprisingly street-smart and combat-savvy "digital assistant."

 Why I can't wait for this one!

I've been wanting to read this writer's work for quite some time now. Two of his books that are very well-known are Neuromancer (1984) and Mono Lisa Overdrive (1988). From what I know of him, he's a very inventive creator, so I really should get to his books! Before I read this new one, though, I'd like to get Neuromancer under my belt, at least!

William Ford Gibson is an American-Canadian writer who has been called the father of the cyberpunk subgenre of science fiction, having coined the term cyberspace in 1982 and popularized it in his first novel, Neuromancer(1984), which has sold more than 6.5 million copies worldwide.

While his early writing took the form of short stories, Gibson has since written nine critically acclaimed novels (one in collaboration), contributed articles to several major publications, and has collaborated extensively with performance artists, filmmakers and musicians. His thought has been cited as an influence on science fiction authors, academia, cyberculture, and technology.

What do you think of my
choice this week?

let me know!

  1. It is good to know that Gibson is still writing novels. I think that Neurmancer was brilliant. I would like to read this. I wonder what his new work is like. However I have not read Mona Lisa Overdrive so I also should read that first.

    On a side note I think thaf Gibson has been on Twitter, taking shots at Trump, lol.

    1. Hi, Brian!

      Yes, it SURE is!! I thought he was no longer doing so!

      Alas, I have not read "Neuromancer" yet..... WOW. I can't BELIEVE how many TERRIFIC books I have yet to read!! And a LOT of them are SF books, too..... :(

      I want to read the entire series, of which "Neuromancer" and "Mona LIsa Overdrive" are a part. OMG.....SO LITTLE time..... AAAARRRGGGGHHH!!!

      Oh, Gibson has been taking shots at Trump?! Now I REALLY need to read his books!! I've just become a HUGE fan of his!!!! LOL.

  2. This one sounds really interesting and I hope you love it. Sorry I've been so out of touch. I was t-boned Nov. 5th and although not majorly harmed, have had appointments, a rental car (my truck is STILL in the garage). Throw in a ill-timed kitchen remodel and the holidays and I'm spent. It's all I can do to keep my head above water. Cass had a birthday on Thanksgiving day and then our anniversary was the day h afterwards. Whew! I really need a break. I miss chatting with you and hope you and your family are well. The dogs say WOOF WOOF Auntie Maria!

Girl, you NEED a good, long rest!!

      Yeah, I REALLY miss chatting with you, too!! I've been pretty busy myself, with schoolwork. (I think I'll publish a blog post about that, btw.) i'm STILL catching up on comments from last week..... OMG.....
