Why do I love this cover?

This cover is obviously gorgeous! First, there's all that glorious aqua, mixed in with shades of blue. Then there's the dynamic sense of movement as a handsome merman swiftly plunges down into the depths. The diagonal sweep of his dive contributes to that sense of movement, as do all the very realistically depicted air bubbles, as well as the bright light swirling all over most of the cover.

I'm also very glad to see a merman on a book about these fantasy creatures of the sea, instead of the typical mermaid! This particular merman is just as graceful as his female counterparts, yet he's obviously very strong, as well.

The font somehow reminds me of Polynesian art, especially wood carvings. Although the title and author's name are placed squarely in the middle of the cover, they're not intrusive at all. In fact, they actually serve to reinforce the dynamism of this image.

Fortunately, I have been able to get some information about the highly talented cover artist. His name is Larry Rostant, and he grew up in the Caribbean, later moving to the UK in order to study design. He's a photographer as well as an illlustrator, and has created many beautiful book covers!

  1. Another great cover Maria.

I had to stare at it for a few seconds in order for my brain to make out the image. That in no way takes away from the picture.Maybe it s a function of complexity.

In addition to everything that you mention. I like the inclusion of other mermaids or mermen swimming in the background.

    1. Hey, Brian!

Speaking of not being able to make out the image on the cover, I didn't notice the mermaids (or mermen, not sure) in the background until you mentioned them! Lol,

Anyway, this is definitely a great cover, and I'm glad you agree about that. It's absolutely stunning, I think! Of course, this book is now in my Goodreads TBR, as well as my Amazon Fantasy wish list.

      Thanks for commenting!! : )

  2. Oooh! I like this cover! I agree with you; it's nice to see a merman on the cover for a change.

I like reading books about mer-people, so this one is going on the list.

    1. Hey, Vonnie!

Yes, it's really nice to see a merman on a cover for a change! And such a nice-looking one, too! His face is hidden, but I'm sure it's as gorgeous as the rest of him! Lol.

I like reading about mer-people, too. Of course, this book is already on my Goodreads TBR list, as well as my Amazon Fantasy wish list!

    2. As I looked this book up, I realized that it's the conclusion to the Ingo series. That mrans I have to get my hands on the previous books first.

    3. Hey, Vonnie!

Yes, it is indeed the last book in the series. I have to get the previous books myself. I want them all!
