Author Serendipity #1: Melanie Dickerson

This is a new monthly feature which will hightight those authors I have recently discovered, and whose books I would love to read.  Such discoveries might come about through browsing on the Internet, a chance encounter with an interesting book in a bookstore (I no longer go to libraries -- it's much too painful), or through other bloggers' recommendations.

The authors I choose will be those who write in my favorite genres: paranormal romance, fantasy, science fiction, young adult, literary fiction, Christian fiction, historical romance, urban fantasy, and contemporary romance.  (Although I also love to read classics, this genre will not be included for obvious reasons.)  These writers might have been in print for a while, but will be completely new for me.

Here's my first discovery!!

  1. Such a cool new feautre!

I haven't read anything by this author, but have been seeing Merchan'ts Daughter around as of late... I'm not sure I'd be able to relate to the nunnery dilemma once she's fallen in love with Ranulf, though. But still, it does sound quite interesting!

    Thanks for sharing!

  2. Hi, Ron!

I'm so glad you like this feature! I would love to do it on a weekly basis, but just don't have the time, since I work two jobs...

THE MERCHAN'TS DAUGHTER caught my eye as I was browsing blogs, so I went to Goodreads to look up the author. I really liked the synopsis! I also found the other book there, which was her first. Then the idea came to me -- why not feature authors I've discovered, whether they've just started publishing or not?

I started playing around with titles, until my subconscious mind came up with the word "Serendipity", and I was all set! I already had the picture (royalty-free) from the Internet, so I went to Picasa, and created the banner there!

I don't think I'll be making this a blog hop, though. It's not easy getting people to participate in those...

Thanks for stopping by and commenting!! I GREATLY appreciate it!! : )
