Here is this week's question:
If you could write a book, what
would it be about?

For years I've wanted to write books, but I have so many interests, I don't know which one(s) I'd like to explore....
First of all, I not only read fiction, but nonfiction, as well. However, since this is a YA blog, then I will stick to that genre. There are three YA sub-genres I love: fantasy, paranormal romance, and urban fantasy. I would add science fiction, but, although I love that particular genre -- in adult as well as YA fiction -- I don't think I could handle all the technical aspects which are usually part of such books. So I'll stick to the three above.
In the fantasy category, I specifically LOVE epic fantasy, something along the lines of The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien, or the Grisha trilogy, by Leigh Bardugo. I adore elves, dragons, and faeries, as well as wizards! I also love the magic wielded by these mythical beings!
In paranormal romance, I would write about vampires and werewolves, just because these happen to be my favorite paranormal creatures. I do love angels too, but I think it's hard to write a good angel book. So it's vamps and werewolves for me! Of course, I'm thinking of my beloved Twilight Saga, by Stephenie Meyer....but I also love the Vampire Academy series,by Richelle Mead, and Nightshade, by Andrea Cremer.
Urban fantasy is frequently paired with paranormal romance, so I would here add The Mortal Instruments series, although I haven't read it yet. (The picture shows only the first three books in the series.) Of course there are various types of paranormal beings in this type of fiction, much like the ones in PNR.
Maybe this coming year I'll definitely sit down and start a novel, in one of these genres.... I've just decided to make this a New Year's resolution!
I have written and published some Twilight and Phantom of the Opera fan fiction, though, with the pen name "Angelmuse". If anyone is interested, you can find my stories HERE.

Hi, Baggins!
DeleteYeah, I sure hope so! I've been dreaming about it for a long time, and have even tried to start, but somehow, I always get stuck somewhere in the story.... Let's see what the new year brings....
Thanks for the visit and the comment!! : )
Just stopping by to say hi. I have no writing talent so I would never write a book. I'm a new follower on GFC. You can see my FF here: http://theresaraymer.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteHi, Theresa!
DeleteWell, I'm sure you do have some writing talent, otherwise, you wouldn't be blogging. : )
Thanks so much for following and commenting!! : )
Great ideas! I love all those genres too, so I'd definitely check out your book to see what you came up with. I hope you achieve your resolution! Good luck!

Hi, Stina!
DeleteGlad you like my ideas! And thanks for saying that you would check out my book!! I, too, hope that I will be able to follow through with SOME kind of YA book this year! Maybe I should sign up for NANOWRIMO....
Thanks so much for the support!! : )
I would love to read one of your ideas as a full book (especially one with paranormal creatures), for now I'll definitely be checking out your fanfiction! I'm a new GFC & Bloglovin follower :)

Hi, Anna!
DeleteOh, thank you so much!! Yes, I LOVE those vamps and werewovles!
I hope you enjoy my fanfiction. Maybe I should write some more. On the other hand, I should be inventing my own characters.
Thanks for following and commenting!! : )
Those sound really interesting! I hope we can take a peak in one of them once you've decided to start on at least one story. I bet the plot will be really interesting!

Hi, Mara!
DeleteOh, thank you!! You're so sweet! I really appreciate your support!!
Of course I will post a short excerpt of my novel, when I do decide to get it going. Hope this will be the year I do it....lol.
Thanks so much fhr the comment and the follow!! : )
What a thoughtful response to this week's question! I love all of those genres, so I hope you get to write your novel someday. You should definitely read The Mortal Instruments soon. The T.V. show ShadownHunters will begin in January and it is based on those books. I think it is going to be the new Buffy! I am following you via GFC. My blog is http://ponderingtheprose.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteHi, Ardychan!
DeleteThank you so much for the support!!
I've been wanting to start reading The Mortal Instruments series (and I have ALL the books, too, shame on me....), but somehow haven't gotten around to it. Another New Year's resolution to add, lol. And I had no idea that there will be a TV show titled "Shadowhunters" in January! WOW. Thanks for letting me know!!
Thanks for the comment, and for being a GFC follower!! : )
I really love your answer for this week's question. You may not have the specifics, but you definitely know what you want to achieve in the long run and that's awesome.

Hi, Sookie!
DeleteThank you so much for such a lovely comment!! I greatly appreciate your support!!
Yes, I do have some general idea of what I'd like to write. Hopefully this coming year I'll be able to start on one of these genres!
Thanks again!! : )
You SHOULD sit down next year and write a book. I always tell myself I'm going to do that and then I don't. But that's what NaNoWriMo is about, is having that support of all the other people participating. On the other hand, that takes away from the ability to read and blog....
