Desperately Wanting Wednesday #2: Cover Lust

This weekly book meme/blog hop,
hosted at parajunkee.com,
is not only for eagerly awaited
new releases, but also for any books
we simply haven't been able
to purchase yet, and are simply
desperate to acquire!

If you'd like to participate,
just create your own post,
grab PJV's button,
and link up to the hosting post!

Each week, there's also a new question
to be answered.
This is the question for this week:

What books are you lusting over
just by cover alone?

Well, due to my busy schedule, I had already prepared this post, so that all I'd have to do would be to link up as soon as the PJV post was published.  When it finally was, I saw the question above.  I had picked out a book that I desperately want, which you can see below.  However, I can answer this question with a couple of samples...

Joss Stirling

As far as I can tell, these are all
UK editions of the same titles.
I can't choose one over the other,
for each book!
I might end up getting all four
of them...

Here's the book I had
already picked out for this post.
It, too, has a beautiful
cover, but I also love the plot!

Genres: Art, Historical Fiction,
Feminist Fiction

From the Goodreads Synopsis

It's 1559. A young woman painter is given the honor of traveling to Michelangelo's Roman workshop to learn from the Maestro himself.  Sheltered and yet gifted with extraordinary talent, she yearns to capture all that life and beauty in her own art.

The Creation of Eve is a riveting novel based on the true but little- known story of Sofonisba Anguissola, the first renowned female artist of the Renaissance.

After Sofi's flight from Rome, her family eagerly accepts an invitation from fearsome King Felipe II of Spain for her to become lady-in-waiting and painting instructor to his young bride. The Spanish court is a nest of intrigue and gossip, where a whiff of impropriety can bring ruin. Hopelessly bound by the rules and restrictions of her position, Sofi yearns only to paint...

I desperately want to buy this book!!
I was an art major in college,
and the Renaissance period is
one of my favorites!
I've heard of this particular artist before,
but haven't read much about her.
This novel sounds
absolutely fascinating!
I simply have to get to it this year!!

What do you think of my picks?
What wonderful books are you all
coveting this week?

    1. Hi, Megan! Aren't these great covers? I agree -- they're not the usual type of thing. That' precisely why I chose them! And I like all four of them! Well....to be honest, my faves are the dark FINDING SKY cover, and the white-with-red-highlights cover for STEALING PHOENIX.

Thank you so much for commenting and following!! I'm off to check out your DWW post!! : )

  2. I think I love the covers of Finding Sky the most. I've heard of MichelAngelo and his David but never of Sofi :).
