Desperately Wanting Wednesday #1: Moonblood, by Anne Elisabeth Stengl

This weekly book meme/blog hop,
hosted at,
is not only for eagerly awaited
new releases, but also for any books
we simply haven't been able
to purchase yet, and are simply
desperate to acquire!

Each week, there's also a new question
to be answered.
This is the question for this week:

Which do you prefer,
reading series,
or stand-alone books?

For me, reading a series is more enjoyable,
because there's character continuity.
If I've fallen in love with the characters,
I can't help but want to know
what else will happen to them.
Although I do read stand-alone books
as well, I do prefer to read a series.

Here's my very first pick!!

(Tales of Goldstone Wood #3)
Trade Paperback, 373 pages
Bethany House
April 1, 2012
Genre: Christian Fantasy

From the Goodreads Synopsis

Desperate to regain the trust of his kingdom, Prince Lionheart reluctantly banishes his faithful servant and only friend, Rose Red. Now she is lost in the hidden realm of Arpiar, held captive by her evil goblin father, King Vahe.

With the Night of Moonblood fast approaching, when King Vahe seeks to wake the Dragon's sleeping children, Lionheart must discover whether or not his heart contains courage before it's too late for Rose Red...and all those he loves.

This sounds absolutely wonderful!

The post is titled "Christian Fantasy

and includes some pretty
fascinating books!
This one caught my eye right away
because of the gorgeous cover!
Then I read the plot,
was immediately enchanted with it,
and now I really must get it!
Of course, I'll have to buy the
previous ones, as well, but that's
just perfect for a book addict like me...

What do you think of my pick?
What wonderful books are you all
coveting this week?

  3. It's nice to see a Christian fantasy for a change - thanks for sharing this one.

Please check out my DWW at:

    1. Yes, I figure I should feature more Christian books, since I do like them. Besides, two of our classic fantasy writers were both Christians -- J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis. So there's already an established tradition of Christian fantasy!

Thanks for the comment, and I'll go check out your DWW!! : )

  4. The book looks seriously good! Going to my TBR pile! :)

Here's my post! We're also holding a giveaway on my blog, so feel free to drop by. :)

  5. Nice choice! I like the cover too.

Good point about seeing how familiar characters are doing as you move along in a series :)

    1. Oh, yeah, that cover is just too beautiful to pass up! Glad you like my choice, as well as my answer to the question!!
