TenFairy Tale Retellings
I Want to Read
Just click on each cover to
go to the Goodreads page!
This is a wonderful Cinderella retelling
with a twist -- Ella sets
out on a journey of self-discovery, unlike
the traditional Cinderella!
Incredibly, I have not yet read this retelling of
the Beauty and the Beast
fairy tale....this version is especially appealing, too,
and I hope to get to it sometime this year!
This is yet another retelling I've been
wanting to read!
It's The Wizard of Oz, from the POV of
The Wicked Witch!
I've just got to get this one under my belt!
Here's another Cinderella retelling that I
must admit to not having
read yet.....(hangs head) But all that
will soon change!
This poor book is sitting up on one
of my shelves, frowning at me and
tapping its cyborg heel!
Beauty and the Beast.
I can tell that the story inside will be as
beautiful as this cover, and as fascinating
as the original tale!
I love this cover, too! It's very original and bold.
This is a retelling of
Little Red Riding Hood, and the interesting
thing is that she
now seems to have a sister!
Here is a retelling of Sleeping Beauty, from the master storyteller himself!
I'm sure this will be a richly-imagined
tale, and I hope to take it off the
shelf sometime this year!
I have always loved the legend of Peter Pan,
and I really want to see
how this author handles the original tale!
and I really want to see
how this author handles the original tale!
This sure sounds like a very imaginative retelling of
Alice In Wonderland, with the heroine's
name changed to Alyss. I can't wait
to see what this author
has concocted, from the original tale!
This is a retelling of The Frog Prince,
in which, after the transforming kiss,
there are some very
interesting complications!

Great list, I've only read some, and others I need to look into! Please feel free to see mine here http://wonderstruck-kcks.blogspot.com/2015/08/ten-fairytale-retellings-ive-read-want.html
ReplyDeleteHi, KayCee!
ReplyDeleteYes, these are definitely great books to read! Glad you agree! I especially want to read "A Court of Thorns and Roses"!!
Thanks for stopping by and commenting!! : )
You absolutely have to read Cinder!! It's one of the best fairy-tale retellings I've ever read and it's so good! You will definitely enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteMy Top Ten Tuesday
Hi, Maria!
ReplyDeleteOh, I know! Everyone has been raving about The Lunar Chronicles for a long time now! I own "Cinder" and "Scarlet". Gotta get started on them!
Thanks so much for the visit and the comment!! : )
This is a great list! Wicked made my list too. :-) I really liked that one. I want to read Ella Enchanted and The Lunar Chronicles at some point. And from what others have said, I really must give Beastly a try.
ReplyDeleteHi, there!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you agree! Oh, you read "Wicked"? I've been wanting to read one for a long time, too. Ditto for "Ella Enchanted". I've owned "Cinder" for a while now, too, and gotta get to it. Heck, I want to read ALL of these.
BTW, I've heard the the movie version of "Beastly" was....beastly. That's sometimes the problem when books are made into movies....Hollywood frequently screws things up! Lol.
Thanks so much for visiting and commenting!! : )
Great list and welcome to Top Ten Tuesday! :)
ReplyDeleteI was this close to adding Enchanted - it's actually a bit more of a mashup!
I tried The Looking Glass Wars, but I felt like I was missing something...it started of promising but something happened in the middle.
Thanks for visiting my blog!
Hi, Lauren!
ReplyDeleteYeah, that cover looks SO good, I know I want to read this book!!
Aw, man....I'm sorry "The Looking Glass Wars" was such a disappointment..... Well, sometimes, that's how it is with a book. I'll try it out, just the same. Then I'll get to see just what happened in the middle of the book.
You're very welcome for my visit! Thanks for visiting and commenting back!! : )
Hi Maria - I have heard of many of these books bot have not read any of them. Some of them look so good.
ReplyDeleteIn particular, the plot of Cinder looks very clever and creative. I also read a little bit of the first chapter and it seems to be very well written.
Hey, Brian!
ReplyDeleteA lot of these retellings are indeed very clever and creative. I think sometimes they're even better than the original stories!
I'm very partial to Beauty and the Beast retellings, so I especially want to read "A Court of Thorns and Roses". However, I am also very eager to read "Enchantment", by Orson Scott Card. He's one of the newer fantasy & SF authors. His SF novel, "Ender's Game", is very highly regarded, so I definitely recommend it to you!
Thanks for the nice comment!! : )
Lots of good ones here! Of the ones I've read, A Court of Thorns and Roses is my favorite. I haven't read Ella Enchanted or Sisters Red either, but I've been wanting to read them both for a long time. Great list!
ReplyDeleteCinder and ACOTAR are must reads! My fiance also bought me The Looking Glass Wars but I haven't read it yet!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by In Wonderland
xo Stephanie
Hi, Steph!
ReplyDeleteOh, they DEFINITELY are! I own "Cinder", and hope to get to it this year. As for ACOTAR, I sure hope I can buy it soon, and get to it this year, too!
Your fiancé bought you "The Looking Glass Wars"? Aw.....how nice of him to do that! Hope you enjoy it!!
You're welcome for my visit to your blog! And thanks to YOU for commenting back!! : )
I only read ACOTAR i think, but i almost put The looking glass war and beauty on my list as well because they sound really interesting and i want to read them. There are just to many books out there that sound interesting and i want to read them.
ReplyDeleteI also have not read Ella Enchanted, but it sounds interesting, so i might try this one it seems like a quick read.
Fantastic list :)
Hi, Dawnie!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you like my list! I hope to be able to read ACOTAR some time this year,.... Of course, I want to read all the others, too! They're ALL fascinating reads, I'm sure!
Thanks for dropping by and commenting!! : )
I have added quite a few of these to my TBR, thanks for the recs :) I really enjoyed the Lunar Chronicles, one of my favorites series, so I hope you enjoy it.
