My Thoughts About This Cover
Beautiful, ethereal, mythical, magical.....these are the words that immediately come to my mind as I gaze on this cover. Although green doesn't appeal to me as much as blue, I love the tones of green used in this image! I also love that the edges of the cover gradually turn slightly darker. This is a very nice effect.
The girl seems to be asleep in midair, in the middle of a forest clearing. I love the way the artist (or photographer) has captured the folds of her pale peach gown.
In spite of the light colors and light-filled image, there's a definite air of mystery about this cover. Why is this girl floating in the air, in the middle of a forest clearing? Is she under the influence of some evil enchantment? I want to peek beyond this cover and find out! And I definitely can, because I do own the Kindle edition of this novel. (If I love the story, I will rush over to Amazon to buy the paperback, even though the Kindle edition was a freebie. Lol.)
The font used for the cover is very appropriately magical, as well, and really stands out. The style reminds me of the letters found on ancient illuminated manuscripts.
This gorgeous cover was created by the very talented artists at Daydream Designs, which is a graphic design company located in North Wales. I sure would love to know the name(s) of the individual artist(s) who are responsible for this treasure, but they are not identified.

I do also love this cover.
ReplyDeleteAs you point out the use of green is fantastic.
I do get the impression that woman is not just in midair but rising. This gives me the impression of something very supernatural going on. I think that the font adds to the impression of some "White Magic" going on.
Though this is not exactly a genre that I would likely read but I agree that all this makes one want to dig into this book to find out what is going on.
Hope that you are having a great weekend!
Hey, Brian!
ReplyDeleteOh, this is definitely a GORGEOUS cover! The green tones, especially the light ones, are just amazing!
How interesting that you get the impression the woman is actually rising in the air. I had not thought of that, but, now that you mention it, she does indeed seem to be steadily and slowly rising. Fascinating! (As one of our favorite characters would say...)
I'm really looking forward to reading this book! In spite of the cover, it turns out to be about mermaids. I suppose the forest setting is connected somehow, though.
Thanks for the great comment!! : )
