(And no tricks!)
Harry Potter Special Edition
(Paperback Box Set)
Trade Paperback, 3,000+ pages
Scholastic, Inc.
August 27, 2013
Fantasy, Young Adult Fiction
Why do I love these covers?
These are wonderfully dynamic new covers for this beloved series! Also, one can see a picture of Hogwarts Academy of Witchcraft and Wizardry when the spines of all seven books are lined up, as in the picture above.
Here are the images for all seven books. Each one boasts a fabulous new cover, with art that really pops, created by the very talented Kazu Kibuishi. The inside illustrations are still the ones originally created by the equally talented Mary GrandPre.
Aren't these covers lovely? Aren't they simply stunning? I love them all! They're bold, with simple yet very dynamic compositions. They pack a lot of visual impact! The passing reader is instantly caught, and wants to learn more, to get access to this incredibly rich adventure world!
I'm especially pleased that Scholastic decided to leave the titles in the original font used for their previous edition. After all, this font is now iconic!
I've just found out about this set. In fact, I discovered it while visiting the awesome blog, Tyngas's Reviews! Lili, one of the blog contributors, has just received this set as a birthday gift, from a friend!! Wow!! She featured these books on the blog's regular Stacking The Shelves meme/hop.
I'm so happy about this!! I can't wait to get my own copy of this wonderful collection!!!
Here's some information about the terrific cover artist behind this new box set!
Kazu Kibuishi
Kazu Kibuishi is the creator of the New York Times bestselling Amulet series and Copper, a collection of his popular webcomic. He is also the founder and editor of the acclaimed Flight anthologies. Daisy Kutter: The Last Train, his first graphic novel, was listed as one of the Best Books for Young Adults by YALSA, and Amulet, Book One: The Stonekeeper was an ALA Best Book for Young Adults and a Children's Choice Book Award finalist. Kazu lives and works in Alhambra, California, with his wife and fellow comics artist, Amy Kim Kibuishi, and
their two children.

I really want this box set! I have the original paperback editions but it didn't come as a box set. When I first heard that this one was coming out and saw teaser pictures of it, I knew I had to have it. Maybe Santa will bring it for me this Christmas?
ReplyDeleteHey, Vonnie!
DeleteWell, you know what? I was notified yesterday that I had won a $25.00 Amazon gift card in the "Replacing Gentry" blog tour giveaway!! So I used it to buy this set!! The original price -- on the publisher's website -- was $70.00. Amazon sells it for $58.50, so, with my gift card, I only paid $33.50! Since I'm an Amazon Prime member, I can have it delivered by this coming Wednesday!!! YAY!!!! But you know, it's even better to get it as a gift, like Lili at Tynga's Reviews did. WOW. I couldn't believe what a nice thing her friend did for her!!
Maybe 'Santa' (aka your mom) will indeed bring it to you for Christmas! I sure hope so!!
Thanks for the great comment!! : )
I'm one of the few that hasn't read this series but I will say that I absolutely love when the spine images match up like that!!

Hi, there!
ReplyDeleteYes, isn't that just lovely? I've ordered the set from Amazon, and it should be at my house in a couple of days!!
I see you published an SCS post. I didn't think anyone was interested anymore... I'll be sure to take a look!
Thanks for commenting!! : )
I'm going to try to get back to doing SCS posts at least twice a month :)
DeleteOh, COOOOL!!! I've tried and tried to get more people to participate, but, since there seems to be no interest whatsoever, I stopped including the Linky widget in the post. So now this meme is a personal one only. I've advertised it in my Book Blog groups, and no results....A couple of people did start to participate, but then they stopped, too. So I'm very happy that you're coming back!!
DeleteI don't know how Steph did it....she usually had from 8 to 10 blogs participating.
Thanks for coming back!! : )
