This is a weekly event hosted by Jennifer, Lili,
Stephanie, Helen, and Tynga @ Tynga's Reviews!
(I have decided to start participating
every other week, though, because of
time constraints.)
As the title implies, this is all about
sharing the books you're adding
to your shelves, be they physical or virtual.
For the complete rules, and to sign up,

This week's haul!!
Books Purchased
This is John Milton's epic poem, Paradise Lost,
in the leather-bound Easton Press edition.
I found this incredible treasure
on Ebay, at a great price!
This gorgeous book contains
the original William Blake illustrations.
The pictures below show just how
beautiful this edition is!!
I first saw this book on the blog
and it looked fascinating, so I ordered it from
Amazon right away!
It concerns a Latina who is a healer,
and is reputed to even work miracles!
Besides, I love the cover!
I've seen this one on several blogs,
especially those dedicated to young adult fiction,
and my curiosity was piqued.
I keep hearing about how good this book is!
So, even though the synopsis mentions
some terrifying elements,
I'm plunging in!
Besides, I'm also wondering
who -- or what -- the Grisha are....
This book is the second one in
this series that I've also
encountered on several blogs,
and is also supposed to be great!
I must confess that I fell
in love with the gorgeous dress on
the cover, and then I found out
the plot has zombies in it....
Ye gads!! I hate zombies!!!
I ordered the first book before
finding out more...
So now I might have a giveaway
for these two.... Lol.
I've read the first book in the series,
and really liked it!
The story involves angels,
to my great delight,
and is a very unique one, too,
for the warrior is an apparently
ordinary young girl....
The plot has plenty of action,
as well as a beginning romance...
I really must continue with this series!!
This next book is another one I've
heard a lot about.
The hype says that fans of Libba Bray and
Cassandra Clare will love it!
Well, there are gargoyles in the plot,
as well as some mystery...
There's also supposed to be quite a bit
of graphic violence...
but well, the Angelfire series is violent, too.
We'll see how it goes...
and the gargoyle part does intrigue me!!
Who hasn't heard of Julie Kagawa?
Well, actually....only YA fans
know exactly who she is.
Her Iron Fey series is reputed to be awesome,
and yes, I want to read it!!
The Blood of Eden series, which
starts with The Immortal Rules, is
also supposed to be great!
It's about vampires, so, of course
I'm going to read it!
(And I already own the second book,
The Eternity Cure....)
So what do you think of
my haul this week?
What awesome books did you
bring home to stack
on your shelves?
Looks like great bunch of books and some great covers too!
ReplyDeleteThe Paradise Lost book really looks like a great find. Coincidentally I was thinking of rereading that soon.
Hey, Brian!
DeleteOh, these covers are STUNNING. And the "Paradise Lost" book is a real gem! I must confess I've never read this masterpiece in its entirety. I've only read excerpts, and that was back in high school. Gotta do something about that....
Thanks for visiting and commenting!! : )
I really liked the kagawa book and I hope it will be the same for you. Happy reading!
ReplyDeletehere is mine
Hi, Melliane!
DeleteI hope so, too! I'm really looking forward to reading it!
Happy reading to you, too, and thanks for commenting!! : )
Ah I bought The Immortal Rules a while ago (and still haven't read it, there's so much to do sigh) and I'm really excited for it. Also I really want to read Shadow and Bone. Have a good time reading those!
ReplyDeleteHey, Sandy!
DeleteI hope I will, too! Thanks for commenting!! : )
A Darkness Strange and Lovely and Shadows in the Silence are really good! The Beautiful and the Cursed looks awesome! I hope you love all your books.
ReplyDeleteCheck out my Stacking the Shelves post over at Fall Into Books
Hi, there!
DeleteI definitely can't wait to read any of these! Thanks for commenting!! : )
Wow. That copy of Paradise Lost is gorgeous! I really want to read The Beautiful and the Cursed. Great haul! Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteNatflix&Books' StS
Hahaha, these zombies might not be as bad as you think, Maria, just give them a try! :))) Wonderful pile of books, and I hope you enjoy every single one of them! :)
ReplyDeleteOoh! That Paradise Lost edition is gorgeous! I like how the inside covers look like wood.
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy Still Water Saints. I was disappointed with it. It had a good idea but it wasn't executed well. It could also have been my mood (I've been in somewhat of a reading slump).
By the way, I bought myself Shadow and Bone last year for my birthday. I haven't yet been able to read it. Would you like to read it together?
A darkness strange and lovely looks like a really interesting book to check out. Shadow and Bone is on my wishlist. Lucky! I hope you love it. Happy Reading!
ReplyDeleteHere are my newest additions.
Natalie, Kara, Vonnie, and Jay:
ReplyDeleteI apologize to you all for not commenting back sooner. A personal crisis suddenly popped up, and I had to take care of it. I'm really, really sorry!
I appreciate all of your comments for this post! It was very nice and thoughtful of you all to comment!
Natalie, thanks for complimenting my copy of PARADISE LOST.
Kara, I'll try out the zombies and see what happens.....lol.
Vonnie, thanks for complimenting PARADISE LOST. As for SHADOW AND BONE, I'd be more than happy to read it with you, as soon as I get these reading commitments for the blog tours taken care of.
Jay, I can't wait to get to these books, either! I've got to get rid of my blog tour commitments first, though....
No need for apologies.
