Barrie must rescue her
beloved and her family from evil spirits in the masterful conclusion to
the Heirs of Watson Island trilogy.
Caged by secrets all around her and haunted by mistakes that have estranged her from Eight Beaufort, Barrie Watson is desperate to break the curse that puts her family in danger—without breaking the beautiful magic that protects Watson’s Landing. To do that, she must heal the rifts that have split the families of the island apart for three hundred years, unravel the mystery of the Fire Carrier and the spirits he guards, and take control of forces so deadly and awe-inspiring they threaten to overwhelm her.
With the spirits that cursed Watson Island centuries ago awake and more dangerous than ever, she finds an unlikely ally in the haunting and enigmatic Obadiah, whose motivations and power she still can’t read—or trust. His help comes at a price, however, plunging Barrie into a deadly maze of magic and wonder, mystery and intrigue that leads through history to places she never imagined she could go.

Why I'm waiting on this one!
I've just discovered this series, and it sounds absolutely AWESOME!! So here I am, now waiting for the third book, when I haven't read the first one.....lol. I just get carried away, though, when I see a great read, and then discover it's the second, or third, or even the fourth book in a series!
This one sure seems to have a LOT of excitement, so I'm adding this third book, as well as the first two, to my Goodreads shelves!
What do you think of my choice?

I just managed to snag the first one really cheap (in hardback) from Book Outlet as I love gothic stories. I also love how all the covers seem to coordinate really well. Maybe I will get all three before I start - it's not like I don't have plenty of other things to read. Great choice and I always look forward to seeing what you have to showcase on W.O.W.
ReplyDeleteHi, Barb!
DeleteOh, you LUCKY, LUCKY girl!! I haven't seen the other books in this series at my local B&N. (Actually, there are TWO local B&N stores, but one is much closer than the other, so I go to that tone.) I first came across this third book while browsing on Goodreads.
Yes, it's really nice how all the covers match so well. That was one thing that ticked me off about the Nightshade series, by Andrea Cremer! They changed the style of the second and third covers, so they no longer matched the GORGEOUS first cover! AAARRRGGHH!!!
I'm so glad you always look forward to my WOW choices! You may be sure that they will contain some fantasy element, and/or romance, most of the time!
Thanks for leaving such a nice comment!! :)
Lol I haven't read the first one either. It does look like an interesting series though. Love the covers. Hope we'll both start the first book soon :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday!

Hi, Shane!
DeleteYeah, it looks like this happens a lot to us bookworms! Lol.
I love the covers, too! It's great when all the covers in a series match. I HATED what the publishers did with the Nightshade series, by Andrea Cremer. Thankfully, that was not the case here!
Happy Wednesday to you, too!! Thanks for the great comment!! :)
Sounds like a good series. Adding it to my TBR. I like Southern Gothic. My WoW is a nonfiction pick about Halloween.
ReplyDeleteHi, Laura!
DeleteYes, it does! I'm glad you're adding it to your TBR! I've never read Southern Gothic, but it sounds interesting! I'll be finding out!
Thanks for visiting and commenting!! :)
Yep! I am very excited for this one as well! Great pick!

Sounds interesting! I haven't read anything by Martina Boone yet, but I do know some people who really enjoy her. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHi, Anna!
DeleteYes, it does!! I haven't read anything by this author, either. I discovered this book the other day, while browsing on Goodreads.
You're very welcome for the share! Thanks to you for stopping by and commenting!! :)
Ohh, that's totally normal, I think we all fall in love with synopis of some book and then realise it's not first in the series but the good thing about it is that you have previous books to read and they are already out! :)
ReplyDeleteHi, Irena!
DeleteYes, I guess it is! Lol. And that's how we bookworms discover great new series! Also, you're very right that, when a third or fourth book comes out, there are the others before it that we can enjoy. That way, we won't suffer so much waiting for the one being featured in our WOW posts! Lol.
Thanks for stopping by and commenting!! :)
Oh, this is so gorgeous! This is going to have to go on my bookshelf! I will check out the rest of the series and add this to my wishlist. Thanks so much for spotlighting it, Maria! Hope you are having a wonderful week, my friend. *hugs*

I'm the same! I find a later book in a series and get hooked and forget about book 1 etc! LOL! Some like this one are worth it though! Here's mine: http://anightsdreamofbooks.blogspot.com.au/2016/05/shelf-candy-saturday-no-165-illusion-by.html
