This is a special haul from the
2015 Miami Book Fair!!
2015 Miami Book Fair!!
The Miami Book Fair is held in Miami, Florida, USA, every year, in the month of November. It lasts for an entire week, ending with a street fair. Author events run through the entire week, too.
This year, the fair began on Sunday, November 15th, and ended on Sunday, November 22nd. I went to the street fair last Saturday, November 21st. Although I was only able to stay a few hours, I did have a great time!
I attended one of the author events, in which YA authors Melissa de la Cruz and Ridley Pearson talked about their books, their individual writing processes, and answered questions from the audience packed into the small auditorium.
I bought de la Cruz's latest title, The Isle of the Lost, which is the first book in her new Descendants series. After the event, I stood in line outside the auditorium, and got my book signed by the author! Another attendee was kind enough to take my picture as I stood right next to the author.

De la Cruz is well-known for several YA best-selling series, such as the Blue Bloods paranormal series.
Pearson is well-known for his equally best-selling YA Kingdom Keepers fantasy series, and he's also written mysteries and thrillers for adults.

The books below were already pre-signed. They were being sold by Books and Books, a Miami indie bookseller that had two booths at the Book Fair --
one for adults and one for young adults.

Soundless has two covers!
The presentation is exquisite!
These are two other de la Cruz books that I
discovered after her event, so
I couldn't get them signed....

The first book below is a YA

Yes, it was a bit hot, but I
WANTED so badly to buy books!!!
I am already looking forward to next year's fair! Hopefully I will be able to spend an entire day there! If so, then I will plan to attend at least three author events. These are not only interesting, but also make me feel like I'm a college student again!

It looks like you really scored at the Miami Book Festival. I love getting to meet authors and having signed books. Glad that Soundless had the beautiful two covers. I hope you love all your new books.

Hi, Grace!
DeleteYes, I did!! YAY!!! There's nothing like a book fair! I get to see REAL, printed books!!!
Like you, I'm always thrilled to meet authors and having them sign their books for me!
I've never seen a book with two covers before. "Soundless" must be unique in that respect. But I LOVE how the book looks with those two covers. The outer cover is so lovely and delicate-looking. It's almost as if it were made of lace.
I will definitely enjoy all of my new (and used) books!!
Thanks for dropping by and commenting!! : )
Soundless is beautifully presented isn't it! Ooh I envy you being at a big book fare like that! I'm having to make do with Black Friday on Amazon for my book fix this week! Have a great time!
ReplyDeleteHi, Chuckles!
DeleteI LOVE the way "Soundless" is presented! Absolutely GORGEOUS.
I'm very lucky they have this book fair here in Miami every November. But I wish I could go to BEA, which is held in NYC every year. I don't know what month it's held in, though. The one big advantage of BEA is that it's held indoors. I need my AC!! Lol.
I've checked out some book deals on Amazon, too, but it's mostly e-books......I do read e-books now (I sued to actually avoid them like the plague), but I do prefer printed books. I didn't see any Black Friday deals with such books, however. So I did get myself a couple of Kindle books this week.
Thanks for the visit and the comment!! : )
Wow. It looks like you had a great time and this looks to have been such a fun and worthwhile event. I saw a little coverage of it on Book TV.
ReplyDeleteI also see that your TBR has grown! I suppose it is an inevitable consequence of visting such an event.
Hey, Brian!
DeleteOh, I really had a great time!! I do wish I could have been there the whole day, and been able to return on the 22nd. Unfortunately, I couldn't do that.....However, I still enjoyed myself immensely. We bookworms are happy just being around books!
Yes, my TBR has certainly grown! And I was trying to control myself! Can you imagine how many books I would have hauled away if I hadn't? Lol. A few years ago, I actually spent over $200.00 at one of these book fairs! This year, I spent a more moderate $80.00 or so.
Hey, if you ever get to go to a book fair in your neck of the woods, be sure to post about it on your blog! I LOVE to visit book fairs virtually, too!!
Thanks for the comment!! : )
That looks like tons of fun. It also looks like an easy place to spend a lot of money. You got e great books and I hope you enjoy them all.
ReplyDeleteHi, Barb!
DeleteOh, book fairs certainly are loads of fun, as well as dangerous places for one's bank account! Lol. But I managed to control myself, and ended up spending only around $80.00. Not bad for a book addict, right? Lol.
I love all of these books, and know that I will enjoy them all!!
Thanks for visit and the comment!! : )
