Los Angeles. It’s been
five years since the events of the Mortal Instruments when Nephilim
stood poised on the brink of oblivion and Shadowhunter Emma Carstairs
lost her parents. After the blood and violence she witnessed as a child,
Emma has dedicated her life to discovering exactly what it was that
killed her parents and getting her revenge.
Raised in the Los Angeles Institute with the Blackthorn family, Emma is paired as a parabatai with her best friend, Julian Blackthorn. A series of murders in the city catch her attention — they seem to have the same characteristics as the deaths of her parents. Could the murderer be the same person? And her attention isn’t the only one caught: someone has been murdering Downworlders as well. The Fair Folk make a deal with the Institute: if the Blackthorns and Emma will investigate the killings, they’ll return Mark Blackthorn to his home. The catch: they have only two weeks to find the killers. Otherwise it’s open war between faeries and Nephilim.
The Shadowhunters of the Institute must race against time to catch the killers, even as they begin to suspect the involvement of those closest to them. At the same time, Emma is falling in love with the one person in the world she’s absolutely forbidden by Shadowhunter Law to love. Set against the glittering backdrop of present-day Los Angeles, this is a riveting story. Emma must learn to trust her head and her heart as she investigates a demonic plot that stretches from the warlock-run nightclubs of the Sunset Strip to the enchanted sea that pounds the beaches of Santa Monica.

Why I'm waiting on this one!
Cassandra Clare does it again!!
She brings us more Shadowhunters action
in a new spinoff series!
Now I have to confess that I have yet
to read the original series....
Yes, The Mortal Instruments.....
I sure hope this will motivate me to go
ahead and catch up!!

Don't feel bad...I haven't read any of these books. I read The Iron Trials, which she did with Holly Black, and I own several of the Mortal Instruments, but haven't read them yet. Too many books, not enough time.
ReplyDeleteHi, Barb!
DeleteAw....thanks for the support! I've been meaning to read this series for such a long time, but, as you say, there are just too many books, and not enough time. I have a part-time job, and that STILL takes too much time away from me! Lol. But I'm making this a New Years' resolution for sure! (I really don't know if I can get to this series before the end of the year....)
Thanks for dropping by and leaving such a nice comment!! : )
I love Cassie Clare! So excited for Lady Midnight!
ReplyDeleteHappy Reading,

The covers in this franchise are so lovely! So artsy! I haven't read the Mortal Instruments but I'm curious about this spin-off too. Great pick!
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday!
Shane @ Itching for Books
Hi, Shane!
DeleteOh, I ADORE all the covers for Cassandra's books!!!! The Mortal Instruments, The Infernal Devices, the Bane Chronicles....and now this new series! I've featured some of the TMI covers in previous "Shelf Candy Saturday" posts.
I'm very curious about this spin-off, too. But first I need to get through TMI! Lol.
Happy Wednesday to you, too! Thanks for dropping by and commenting!! : )
I still need to finish TMI before this is released. I loved The Infernal Devices :)
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my most anticipated releases for 2016. Fantastic pick!!!
Hi, Bogdana!
DeleteI haven't even started TMI! So I have to read ALL of these series! I'm really looking forward to doing that, though!
I'm sure this book is highly anticipated by a LOT of YA book bloggers. I mean, it's by CASSANDRA CLARE. Of course we're all excited!!! SQUEEEEE!!

Thanks for stopping by and commenting!! : )
Wow I didn't know this one would be such a long book! I also have a lot of catching up to do! >.< I've just read the first two books in The Mortal Instruments series.
ReplyDeleteLipstick and Mocha
Hi, Carla!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm surprised by that, too! Usually, when a series starts, the first book is not that long. The sequels do get longer and longer. But this time, Clare has started out with a pretty long book. So maybe she'll continue that way through the rest of this new series. It'll be interesting to find out!
You've read the first two books of TMI? Well, you're ahead of me, girl! I haven't even read the first one.....lol.
Thanks for the visit and the comment!! : )
