This nice haul is from the 2013 Miami Book Fair, which celebrated its 30th Anniversary this year!!   I went to the street fair on Saturday, November 23rd, the day before the whole fair ended.  Although I wasn't able to stay for more than a few hours -- it was incredibly hot -- I did have a great time, especially when I met four bestselling YA authors who were presenting their books: Alex Flinn, with Towering (see above), Holly Black, with The Coldest Girl In Town, Kami Garcia, with Unbreakable, and Lauren Oliver,  with Panic, which will be released next year.  Each author read from her book, and took questions afterward.  I was able to get photographed with each of them, too!  Unfortunately, the picture with Lauren Oliver was much too blurry for me to include it here.

Here are the four authors, taking questions
 from the audience.

Here I am with Kami Garcia!

With Alex Flinn!

With Holly Black!

The fair always runs for a week, and it's always in November.  Since it takes place in Miami, there's no guarantee of cool weather, so it was in the 80s that afternoon.

The entire event ran from Sunday, Nov. 17th, to Sunday, Nov. 24th.

The street fair is always held on the weekend, during the last two days of the entire fair.  I walked around, visiting different booths, gathering together my nice, "little" haul!  Needless to say, I was in Book Heaven, in spite of the heat!  However, I was very grateful to find the YA presentation, which took place in one of the buildings, and was nicely air conditioned.  Ahhhh......

These are the posters for this year's fair.

This is where the fair was held.

Downtown Book Center booth!

Here I am with Raquel Roque (right),
owner of Downtown Book Center,
and her daughter!

These are more pics from the street fair.

Here's a section of the Children's Pavilion.

There were so many book presentations!  In the brief  time I was there, I was only able to attend one, unfortunately....but I'm already making plans for next year, and I will definitely make sure to spend at least one entire day there!

If you'd like more information about Miami Book Fair International, just click HERE.  At their site, you can get details on the authors who were featured at this year's fair, as well as on fair merchandise, the history of the fair, travel/lodging, and more!

See you at the fair next year!!

What do you think of my
fair treasures?
What great books did you
stack on your shelves
this time around?

    1. Hi, Grace!

Yeah, I did, didn't I? And I got to meet these terrific YA authors, even if for only a few minutes..... I can't wait to go back next year!!

  2. I saw bits of the Miami Book fair on Book TV and thinking how neat it looked.

How cool that you got to attend! Also it was really great that you got to meet those authors.

That is also a terrific and eclectic bunch of books that you managed to pick up. I have read a lot of Asimov but I never read Nemesis. It looks great and I should really give it a try.

    1. Hey, Brian!

Oh, it was such fun! It WAS pretty hot, but then I was able to attend this very nice, air-conditioned presentation! Ah, bliss!

I wish I could have stayed longer, in spite of the heat. But I was pressed for time, since there were other things on my plate that day. I'm thankful that I was able to attend for at least a few hours.

Next year, though, I will definitely plan to stay longer. Oh, YEAH!!

Thanks for complimenting my haul! This is one of the beauties of this book fair -- there are ALL kinds of books available, and at different prices. Sometimes I've seen the same book, which I passed up at one booth, selling for a lot less at another booth, and have then snapped it right up!

I've been to this book fair several times in the past, but this is the very first time I've done a report on it for my blog. It took me hours to create the post, too, but it was well worth it!!

As for "Nemesis", yes, it looks great, although I've seen mixed reviews of it online. Still, it was written by The Master Asimov, so I think it's really worth a try!

      Have a GREAT weekend!! : )

    1. Hi, Kara!

Oh, thank you!! I wish this book fair came along more often....or that it lasted longer! And yes, like you, I usually end up buying too many books! Lol. This time around, I told myself I would only buy two, at the most. Ha! I ended up with ten!! It's just TOO hard to resist!

I know I'm going to enjoy all of these!!! : )

    1. Thanks!!!! I like to change my usual header once Halloween rolls around. I use my black cat and pumpkin header during the month of October. Then I switch to my Thanksgiving header, which consists of trees in a meadow, with a central leaf with the words "Happy Thanksgiving!" on it. Then I put this one up during the month of December.

Thanks for such nice comments!! : )

    1. Hi, Ellie!

Oh, thanks!! I sure did have fun! But I thought other major US cities also had such fairs. Well, the only one I know about is BEA, which takes place in New York. I'm surprised Seattle doesn't have a book fair. Maybe you should get a petition going or something......

I know I'll enjoy all of these books! Thanks for such a nice comment, and I hope you have a great day, too! :)
