    1. Hi, Wendy!

Actually, yes! Preparing this giveaway is part of my holiday celebration, and I'm also preparing a blog tour for Tuesday, which is also related to the Fourth of July. It, too, has a giveaway.

Later today, hubby and I are going out for a special dinner at a nice restaurant, and then we're off to watch fireworks! No BBQ in the heat for us, lol.

What are you, your hubby, and Mouse doing? I'm sure she LOVES fireworks! What kid doesn't? I STILL LOVE them!! But I'm talking about the professional fireworks. I don't like the idea of buying them and lighting them at home. Besides, we live in a condo. I'm sure there are rules against that here.

Of course, parents have to be very careful regarding home fireworks, but I'm sure you're well aware of that!

Thanks for entering the giveaway!! :)

  2. I hope you have a wonderful dinner and enjoy the fireworks!

It is illegal to shoot off personal fireworks where I live (not that it stops people--I've been hearing them at night for days now). The city has a show they put on, which we've enjoyed in the past.

This year we we be going to a minor league baseball game in a neighboring town. It should be fun. It'll be Mouse's first game. :-) I think it's seeing the fireworks that have her most excited. Haha Other than that, it's been a quiet day. I'm taking a break from playing with Mouse. We just read thirteen books straight to her toys, and I needed a water break. :-)

I'm sorry about the mix up with the comments. Rafflecopter confuses me in general, I'm afraid.

Enjoy the rest of your Fourth of July!

    1. Hi, Wendy!

People used to set off firewords a lot in the neighborhood we lived in before we moved into this condo complex. We've been here since March, 2015, and haven't heard any fireworks go off within the complex itself. (There are several such complexes around us, too.) So I think there must be a rule against doing that. I think that setting off your own fireworks can be VERY dangerous, so I've never done it. I don't know why they continue to be sold to the public.

Going to a minor league baseball game sure sounds like a lot of fun! And I'm sure Mouse will LOVE it, especially since it will be her first!

Of course she's excited about the fireworks! I am, too! Of course, I'm really a big kid, lol. I LOVE fireworks displays, and Christmas, and circuses!! And Harry Potter, and....well,you get the picture, lol.

We've been having a quiet day, too. Hubby went out to the pool a while back, but returned right away because it was just TOO hot out there. So now we're looking forward to that dinner, and the fireworks! YAY!!!!

No worries about the comment mixup. I know that Rafflecopter can be confusing. I really appreciate that you posted another comment. Thanks!! :)

Thanks for entering the giveaway!! I hope you and your family enjoy the rest of the Fourth, too!! <3 :)

  3. Thanks for the giveaway and happy 4th of July! I don't read many patriotic books. For July 4th my family and I watch the parade by the beach and BBQ. :)

    1. Hi, Cali!

You're very welcome!! Happy Fourth of July to you, too!!

You know, I really don't read many patriotic books, either. I feel that I should do so.

Your way of celebrating sure sounds like fun! A parade at the beach? I've never heard of that before! AWESOME!! And I LOVE barbecues, too, except that we don't own a grill, and it's SOOO hot out here! So hubby and I are just going out to dinner later, and then we'll watch a local fireworks show.

Thanks for entering the giveaway!! :)

  4. Hi Maria - Sorry about the confusion over the giveaway. I did not see the original question.

As you know I am a bit of an American Revolutionary War buff. I currently have a post up up regarding the many related books that I have read over the years.

Currently I am reading Willard Randall's Benedict Arnold biography which I am finding to be excellent. I will likely blog about it in a few weeks.

Thanks for hosting the giveaway. I hope that you and your family have a great 4th of July!

    1. Hi, Brian!

No problem! Some people find Rafflecopter confusing, to say the least!

I think it's SO wonderful that you're so into the American Revolutionary War!! I have to rush over to your blog and check out most recent post on this topic! It's one that I feel I need to read more about, too.

Oooh, a Benedict Arnold biography!! I can't wait to read your thoughts about it! I am woefully ignorant about the life of many early American heroes and villains....

You're very welcome for the giveaway!! I hope you and your family had a great Fourth of July, too!! We went to dinner, and then saw fireworks at a mall near us. We had a WONDERFUL time!!

You're very welcome for the giveaway!! Thanks for entering it!! :)

  5. I do enjoy reading books that coincide with the holidays, I think it's just a fun way to join the festivities of the holiday! We have a family BBQ and finish off with fireworks every year for the 4th!

    1. Hi, Stephanie!

I agree -- reading books related to a particular holiday is a fun way to celebrate it! I do this with the Christmas holiday, less so with other holidays. But I really should start doing that to celebrate the 4th of July! This is a major American holiday, after all.

Your family celebration sounds is typical of the way most of us celebrate. LOVE it!! (Although hubby and I usually prefer to eat BBQ dishes in an air-conditioned restaurant, lol.)

Thanks for entering the giveaway!! Hope you had a lot of fun on the 4th!! :)

  6. My family's 4th of July tradition since fireworks, and sadly sparklers, became illegal is to participate in my town's 4th of July 5k. I am the only one in my family that always insists in running in it every year even though I am the only non-runner in my family.

    1. Hi, Emma!

Gee, it's too bad that fireworks and even sparklers have become illegal in your area! Does that include public fireworks displays, too? I've never been a fan of buying fireworks or sparklers for use at home. But I see nothing wrong with the professional fireworks, which everyone can go see at certain locations. Those are usually safe.

Here in Miami, we have the usual public fireworks displays every year, but individual fireworks and sparklers are also sold. People are warned to be careful, but my family has never bought these. We've always gone to the public displays.

It's great though, that you guys have a marathon every year. KUDOS to you for insisting on running in it every year!

Thanks for entering the giveaway!! :)

  7. While I do enjoy the occasional patriotic book, what I read never seems to coincide with the holidays. We usually grill and do fireworks. This year, we cooked at home and then went to my daughter's for the fireworks.

    1. Hi, there!

I read holiday books mostly during the Christmas season, but I will try to include the Fourth of July, as well. After all, this is one of our major holidays!

Looks like you guys celebrated the Fourth in great style this year!! I see this holiday as being a family holiday, too.

Thanks for entering the giveaway!! :)
