The highly anticipated sequel to the instant New York Times bestseller that critics are calling “out-of-this-world awesome.”

Moving to a space station at the edge of the galaxy was always going to be the death of Hanna’s social life. Nobody said it might actually get her killed.

The sci-fi saga that began with the breakout bestseller
Illuminae continues on board the Jump Station Heimdall, where two new characters will confront the next wave of the BeiTech assault.

Hanna is the station captain’s pampered daughter; Nik the reluctant member of a notorious crime family. But while the pair are struggling with the realities of life aboard the galaxy’s most boring space station, little do they know that Kady Grant and the Hypatia are headed right toward Heimdall, carrying news of the Kerenza invasion.

When an elite BeiTech strike team invades the station, Hanna and Nik are thrown together to defend their home. But alien predators are picking off the station residents one by one, and a malfunction in the station’s wormhole means the space-time continuum might be ripped in two before dinner. Soon Hanna and Nik aren’t just fighting for their own survival; the fate of everyone on the Hypatia—and possibly the known universe—is in their hands.

But relax. They’ve totally got this. They hope.

Once again told through a compelling dossier of emails, IMs, classified files, transcripts, and schematics, Gemina raises the stakes of the Illuminae Files, hurling readers into an enthralling new story that will leave them breathless.

Why I'm waiting on this one!

I own the first book, Illuminae, but have yet
to read it, so it might seem a little
crazy for me to be wanting the
second one.....Lol.
But I can't help it! This is what we obsessed
bibliophile book addicts do!!
And hey, it's SF!!  I sure need to read more
of that kind of stuff!!
After all, I also have to get off this planet
every so often....so a vacation on
a space station -- and one with LOTS of
action -- sounds like just what  the thing!!

What do you think of my choice?

come check out your pick(s)!

  1. I've heard of illuminae but I don't know if I would like the writing style. A story told through letters and text seems like it would be hard to really know the characters... I think I'll try the audio book if I end up taking this one on! I can't wait to see what you think of both of these.
Thank you for following me earlier this week!

    1. Hi, Lauren!

You know, when I first saw "Illuminae" at my local B&N, I took a look through it, and at first, didn't like what I saw. Like you, I wasn't sure if I could actually read it and REALLY get into the story. In the end, though, I went ahead and bought it. So I'm going to try reading it. If I don't like it, I can always hold a giveaway for it! Lol. But I have this feeling I'll like it! I will probably like the second book, as well. After all, I do enjoy innovation, and these are SF novels. We'll see how it goes....

You're very welcome for the follow!! Thanks for following back, and for commenting on this post!! :)

  5. This series looks to be very original.

I googled it and looked it couple of summaries and reviews. It sounds like the pl,ot and characters are different fun.

The reviews for it also look good. If you read this I would be curious as to what you think.

    1. Hey, Brian!

You know, the first book, "Illuminae", is structured in a very unique way. It contains lots of "documents" (fictional,of course), as well as emails, pages of just pictures, and other things. When I first looked through this book, I didn't quite like it, but later on, I changed my mind, and went ahead and bought it, at a local B&N. I do intend to read it. It's a very innovative novel indeed! I hope to read this first book before I get to the second one. That way, I can judge whether or not "Gemina" is worth reading for me. However, I must confess to being super excited for "Gemina", as I do feel I will LOVE "Illuminae"!

Thanks for the visit and the great comment!! :)

  6. Great choice, Illuminae was quite good. I didn't love it as much as some but it was still very solid. And there doesn't seem to be a lot SF set on space stations, so I'm looking forward to that also!

I really need to start on "Illumae" very soon!!!

I think you're right -- I haven't heard of many SF stories or novels set in space stations.
