Welcome to

Here's this week's haul!!

Books Purchased

Artist's Tools Purchased

This week, I was inspired by my
blogger friend, Grace @ Books of Love,
to buy some coloring books and
colored pencils,
right along with books to read!
One day, at Barnes & Noble, I noticed
that suddenly they had a lot of
coloring books for adults. I had never seen
such a thing before. It turns out that
there's currently an adult coloring book craze
going on! These books are supposed to
be stress busters, and, of course, also stimulate
one's creativity. I'm joining in with this
great new creative hobby!

I bought three different brands of
colored pencils, to see which
would be best. I discovered that two of them
are pretty much the same.... Lol.
The one on the left, above, is Penway Kids,
the one in the middle is Prismacolor,
and the one on the right is Crayola.
These are available in drugstores, as well as
at online stores like eBay and Amazon.

This is the Tenth-Anniversary Edition of Twilight,
which includes a new, reimagined version of
this iconic novel, titled Life and Death.
There's a gender swap involved.
I've already started reading this new version!

  1. I think the Prisma Color Colored Pencils are my favorite to use. I'm so glad that you bought some coloring books. I want to see some of your coloring. It looks like you got some great books as well.

    1. Hi, Grace!

The Prismacolor pencils are indeed very nice! However, when I compared them to the Crayola pencils, they seemed to have the same color saturation and softness. Well, we'll see.....I suspect the Penway pencils might be of lesser quality; I really haven't tried them yet.

I have started to color one of the mandalas in the Creative Haven book. There are some really GORGEOUS designs in it! I think I will continue with this book for now, but I might start with the other two coloring books, instead. Not sure yet. As soon as I finish at least three designs, I'll put them up on the blog.

Yes, I also got some great books! Two of them, "Across The Universe" and "Defiance", I had been wanting to get for some time. The other one -- the Tenth-Anniversary Edition of "Twilight" -- I grabbed as soon as it was released!

Thanks for commenting back!! : )

  2. I really want to read Defiance, so I may get it from the library soon. I'm waiting on the Twilight book to price drop, but I have to get it for my shelf to complete it. Great haul!

    1. Hik Lekeisha!

Oh, I want to read that one, too! As for the Twilight book, I got it on Amazon for $14.48. But I ordered it with free, two-day shipping, in return for signing up for a 30-day trial Prime membership, I did have to pay $.95 tax, though.

Glad you liked my haul! Thanks for commenting back!! : )

  3. Oh cool! I'm glad they're encouraging adults to get back into coloring books. I don't think I ever lost interest in them though because I was always sneaking away with kids' stuff lol but it's fun and it also enforces you to snap into your imagination, be youthful again. Hope you enjoy your new reads, and old ones :)

    1. Hi, Shane!

You know, I had no idea that this was a current trend until I went to Grace's blog -- Books of Love. Be sure to check out her recent STS posts, as she includes many pages that she has already colored. They're GORGEOUS!

I agree that this is a great trend! Perhaps if more adults get into this, there will be much less stress everywhere! Hopefully that will affect road rage, too, lol.

I'm already reading "Twilight", and will soon have my review posted. As for the other two books, I've been wanting to read them for a long time, too. I know I'll enjoy them!!

Thanks for stopping by and commenting!! : )

  4. My wife has been into adult coloring books for a couple of years now. She really enjoys them. I think that she likes both the Crayola and the Cray - Z - Art pencils.

I think that coloring can be such a relaxing practice. When one is finished one usually also end up with nice results.

I hope that you are having a great weekend Maria.

    1. Hi, Brian!

Oh, she has? Gee, I just found out about them recently. So that means this trend has been going on for a few years now. COOOOOL!! I'm going to check out the Cray-Z-Art pencils. LOVE that brand name!

Oh, it's definitely a very relaxing practice! I've already started on a beautiful mandala design, in the Creative Haven Mandalas book. I have to hurry up and finish it. I will be posting my results on this blog, but I want to have a few done first.

I'm having a nice, quiet weekend so far, thanks! In fact, I'm thinking of doing some coloring later! But I also need to catch up on some reading, lol.

Hope you guys are having a great weekend, too!! : )

    1. Hi, Barb!

Yeah, I think I did! I've been wanting to read "Across The Universe" and "Defiance" for some time now, and I finally got them!

It seems that coloring books for adults are the trend right now, and I think that's great! Hope you, too, have fun doing your coloring!

  7. I saw the colouring books on blogs I visited and enjoyed seeing their photos of the colouring they had done. I used to enjoy art as a kid so I decided to start getting books and pens! I just need to find time to colour now!

It's funny how Twilight is always ridiculed as being dreadful-yet look how popular this new version is! It shows the interest is still there. I do long for Edward's POV which would have more of his family in it. Doubt we'll ever see it now!

    Thanks for visiting my blog!

    1. Hi, Chuckles!

This is definitely a trend going on now, and I think it's a very healthy one. I wish I had known about it much earlier. And you're right about the time. It's necessary to set time aside for this very absorbing activity!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE The Twilight Saga!! Yes, the interest is still there, but I'm reading the new book now, and not liking it as much. The original is MUCH better! And I wish Stephenie had given us the finished "Midnight Sun"....I think you're right that we'll never see it now.....

You're very welcome for my visit! Thanks for commenting back!! : )

    1. Hi, Betsy!

Me, too! Well, now I definitely will! I'm glad you'll be interested in reading my thoughts, as well. Of course, I want to read the sequels later on.

I've been seeing these coloring books, too, on a few blogs. I Googled this, and it turns out it's a new trend. I hope it continues on a permanent basis, as this is a very relaxing, fun activity! I've already started working on a mandala design from the Creative Haven mandala book.

Thanks so much for commenting back!! : )
