Why do I love this cover?

This is the so-called "Twilight Edition" of this immortal novel, and the cover is absolutely, positively gorgeous! However, I don't see that much of a  connection to the Twilight covers. True, the background is black, and the central image is red, but that's about it. Actually, the beautiful rose in the middle of this cover is more of a reddish pink, with some distant hints of brown. The Twilight covers also have white in them; so I have to admit that there is some connection, albeit a slight one; one of the petals of this rose is softly lit  by an unknown light source, so the top of the petal is indeed white.

Whether or not this cover is connected to the Twilight covers, it's undeniably beautiful! The rose is simply exquisite, the light falling upon it just right, too. The rose is at that stage where it's about to start wilting, but is still glorious. The folds of the petals are intricately shaded, and form a very nice contrast to the petal on which the light falls. I also like the petal that's delicately dangling off the rest of the flower.

The leaves are gorgeous, too! The rose appears to be nestled in them; they not only frame it, but support it, as well.

I love the font used for the title. It's simple, yet a bit ornate. However, I do wish it were just a bit bigger, although not enough to take attention away from that exquisite rose.

Incredibly, this image is a photograph! I had thought that perhaps it was a close-up from an Old Master painting of the 16th or 17th centuries, but not so! The hugely talented photographer is Magda Indigo. She creates stunning flower photographs, which are available for viewing on her website. She was born in Belgium, but currently lives with her husband, fellow photographer Paul Indigo, in the UK.

I definitely hope to see more beautiful covers created by this amazingly creative photographer!

  2. Hi Maria - I hope that the holiday has been good for you and your family.

    This is indeed striking!

Amazing that this is really a photograph. I think that it has been very processed. That is not a criticism as I think that working on photographs like this is an art form in and of itself.

    1. Hi, Brian!

Yes, we had a very nice time, indeed! I always love watching fireworks!!

This is most definitely a striking cover!! I think you're right -- this photograph has been digitally manipulated, and I agree with you that such a process is an art form in itself.

I have a collection of editions of "Jane Eyre", and this is one of them!

Thanks for the great comment!! : )

  3. Hey Maria! I absolutely love the cover too! The flower looked stunning in that photograph - the lightning is perfect and the petals look gorgeous. I have to agree with you on the twilight part, they only have little similarities.
