Book Synopsis

Downton Abbey meets Cassandra Clare in this lush, romantic fantasy from New York Times bestselling author Kiersten White.

“I did my best to keep you from crossing paths with this world. And I shall do my best to protect you now that you have.”

Jessamin has been an outcast since she moved from her island home of Melei to the dreary country of Albion. Everything changes when she meets Finn, a gorgeous, enigmatic young lord who introduces her to the secret world of Albion’s nobility, a world that has everything Jessamin doesn’t—power, money, status…and magic. But Finn has secrets of his own, dangerous secrets that the vicious Lord Downpike will do anything to possess. Unless Jessamin, armed only with her wits and her determination, can stop him.

Kiersten White captured readers’ hearts with her New York Times bestselling Paranormalcy trilogy and its effortless mix of magic and real-world teenage humor. She returns to that winning combination of wit, charm, and enchantment in Illusions of Fate, a sparkling and romantic new novel perfect for fans of Cassandra Clare, The Madman’s Daughter, and Libba Bray.

Why am I waiting on this book?

This is indeed a luscious combination!
Downton Abbey meets Cassandra Clare?
Oh, I definitely have to get myself
a copy of this novel just as
soon as it's off the press!!!!
One of the things that first caught my
eye, when I read the synopsis,
was the name of the country
mentioned in this novel: Albion.
That's an ancient name for the island of
Great Britain, and was also the name
given by the great poet and
artist, William Blake, to one of his
mythological characters.
So this is an absolute must for me,
since I love the work of Blake,
and just adore unique mixes of genres
such as this one!

What do you think of my choice?
What fascinating book(s) are
you waiting  on this week?

Yeah, that's one of the comments I've heard! Would you believe that I own "Paranormalcy", and have yet to read it? GROAN. Well, I'll definitely do something about that! Then I'll move on to her other books, including this one!!

  6. I have Paranormalcy, but I still need to read it. I'm hesitant because I wasn't a fan of her Chaos of Stars but I'm still curious. This one intrigues me because of the Cassie Clare mention. Hope you enjoy it when you read it.

    1. Hi, Teresa!

Yeah, I have "Paranormalcy", too, and haven't read it. I haven't heard of "Chaos of Stars". Gotta check that one out! Thanks for mentioning it!

The Cassandra Clare mention will guarantee readers for this book, for sure! However, I think the plot is fascinating, so, even without the Clare reference, I still want to read this one! I know I'll enjoy it.

Thanks so much for commenting back!! : )
