question when you visit Bill's blog!

My Answer

I'm sure most of the participants this week will answer that they really can't choose one favorite genre.  Well, I can't do so, either.  I have several favorites -- classics, fantasy, science fiction, paranormal romance, young adult fiction, urban fantasy, Christian fiction, contemporary romance, historical romance, and literary fiction.  I also love to read nonfiction, so I have several favorites in that category, as well.  (I'll only list my fiction faves, though.)

So here are my favorite books in several genres!

CLASSICS/LITERARY FICTION

EPIC FANTASY/URBAN FANTASY

YA PARANORMAL ROMANCE

CHRISTIAN FICTION

SCIENCE FICTION

CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE

HISTORICAL ROMANCE

What about you?
What are your favorite books
and genres?

    1. Hi, Elizabeth!

Oh, thank you!! You're so sweet! Yes, it IS difficult to choose....there are SO many books that have just blown me away!! So even this apparently exhaustive list is but a small part of a much longer list....lol.

One of my Christian fiction picks also qualifies as historical fiction -- THE ROBE. What a book!!!! You really must read it. And in this particular case, the book is MUCH better than the movie!

I really do need to read more historical fiction, since it's definitely a fascinating genre. I'm sure you can recommend many good books in this genre, so I'll be sure to check some out on your blog!

Thanks for the nice comment!! : )

    1. Hi, Guinevere and Libertad!!

Actually, Cheryl @ Tales of the Marvelous did the same thing I did. The only difference is that I am displaying book covers. I LOVE to do that, because I'm a VERY visual person.

Thanks for the nice comment, and for liking my FB page!! : )

  3. Hi, Mary!

Oh, TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD is definitely a major masterpiece! As for Mary Balogh, she's my very favorite historical romance writer!!

Thank you so much for commenting back and becoming a follower!!! I'm heading back to your blog to return the favor! : )

  4. Great post and great lists Maria.

I too would have trouble coming up with a favorite genre. Sometimes I think that I am even against classifying books by genre, yet I do so all the time! Of course I also have terrible difficulty coming up with favorite books.

    1. Hey, Brian!

Thanks for the compliment!! Much appreciated!

You know, I think that most bookworms have the same problem. There are just SO many GREAT books out there, it's really hard to pick favorites, let alone one or two. I know I've left some really terrific books off this list....I really should have included "A Tale of Two Cities", by Dickens, and "Crime and Punishment", by Dostoevsky. I also love "Dansville", a little-known historical romance by Robin McCorquodale. The prose is just LUSCIOUS. Then there's "Phantom", by Susan Kay, which I think is SO much better than the original, by Gaston Leroux. I also LOVE "The Second Coming", by Walker Percy (I own the hardcover, plus a 1970's paperback). And of course, there's The Nightshade trilogy, by Andrea Cremer...and I could go and on.... Lol.

Thanks for another great comment!! L )

  5. Great list like always.

I see that you enjoyed Night Magic. I have really mixed feelings about this one. I know it's based on Phantom of the Opera and that was the only reason why I read it. I guess it didn't really leave an impression on me because I can't remember what it was about. I know it was set in the modern times though.

Chica, espero que todo este bien con udsted y su familia. Estube muy ocupada que no pude platicar contigo.

    1. Hey, Vonnie!

Gracias, chica!! Yes, I LOVED "Night Magic"!!! True, the heroine wasn't Christine, but still, it was a lovely story! If you can't remember the plot, just go back and re-read it -- I'm sure you'll be glad you did!

Todo esta bien conmigo y mi familia. Y como estan tu y la tuya? No te preocupes por estar ocupada; lo mismo me esta pasando a mi....pero oye, me puedes tratar de "tu". Te devolvere los comentarios en tu blog!!

Thanks for the great comment!! : )
