My Answer

No worries, I won't mention The Twilight Saga again!  (Although I'd love to....)  Here's a chance for me to mention a trilogy that I absolutely love, and it's none other than The Lord of the Rings!!

I have several editions of these books, too, including the ones illustrated by Alan Lee!!!   I also have other editions I treasure, whether paperback or hardcover.  I love them all!!

From the first moment I read about the indomitable hobbit, Frodo Baggins, I was totally enthralled....I love him, his uncle Bilbo -- who found the ring that must be destroyed -- Gandalf, Aragorn, Legolas, Merry, Pippin....I love the land these fascinating beings roam, too....Middle-Earth, where I wish I lived....

Of course, I love the Harry Potter series just as fiercely!  Since I haven't mentioned LOTR yet, though, I think it's only fair I do so in this week's post!

Here's a picture of the Alan Lee edition,
which is my absolute fave!!

(available from time to time)

Other editions I own:

What's your favorite trilogy?

  1. If I have my own place with a bigger space, I would love to be able to buy different copies of the same books. There are so many great covers out there for classics. I would like to be able to collect these all.

    1. Hey, Vonnie!

You know, I'm crazy....because my place is literally overflowing with books! I shouldn't be buying more than one edition of the same books. but I'm a die-hard bibliophile, and LOTR has been published in so many GORGECOUS editions that I couldn't resist....lol. Of course, I can't possibly own them all! If I had enough room, though....

Have a GREAT weekend, and thanks for commenting back!! :)

  2. I've read those three series and can't disagree with any of your choices! They were all great reads. There are so many wonderful series out there it's hard to choose favorites.

  3. This is a great choice for favorite trilogy. It might be my favorite too. Among many reasons for this to be so is the fact that I first read it very long ago at a very impressionable time.

I say "might" because I have so much trouble picking favorites. Another contender for me would be Isaac Asimov's Foundation Trilogy. It has been so long since I read that one however that I need to give it a read to be sure.

    1. Hey, Brian!

Oh, I LOVE The Lord of the Rings!! However, I do agree with you that there are lots of wonderful series that could be considered favorites. I need to read The Foundation Trilogy myself. I can't believe I haven't done it, yet... Gotta do something about that!

Thanks for visiting and commenting!! :)

  4. Maria I love the first box set you showed, I was looking into getting a hardback box set of The LOTR, I currently only have the paperback box set with the Hobbit included.

I'm amazed that your the only person in Book Blogger Hop to mention Harry Potter!!!

    1. Hi, Angelica!

Yeah, the Alan Lee set is GORGEOUS!! You might need to hunt around for it a little, but it's well worth it. Try Abebooks, Alibris, and Ebay. Good luck!!

You know, I'm not the only person in the BBH who has mentioned the Harry Potter series. Last week's question dealt with favorite series, and a LOT of people mentioned Harry Potter.

You have a great weekend, too! Thanks for the visit and the comment!! :)

    1. Hi, Ao!

Oh, this is ABSOLUTELY my favorite fantasy trilogy! Since the Harry Potter series has more books, I can't say it's one of my favorite trilogies, but it IS right up there with LOTR!!

How nice that you have different editions, as well, and most especially the one owned by your mom when she was single! That's a REAL treasure!!

Thanks so much for the visit and the terrific comment!! Hope you have a great weekend, too, mi amigo! Cuidate tu tambien!! :)
