This week's haul!!

Books Bought

These 3 books need no introduction.
I first bought this edition years ago,
and don't know what happened to it,
so I bought another one.
This particular sample (copyrighted 1965)
comes with a slipcase, which really made this
bibliophile ecstatic!!
Of course, I own several editions
of this immortal masterpiece!

(The Lord of the Rings Trilogy #1)
Mass Market Paperback, 527 pages
Ballantine Books
September, 1969
(Twenty-third U.S. printing)

I've just finished reading the
first book in this series, Captured, and loved it!!
So I went back to Amazon and bought
the next two books,
which I'm hoping to devour just as fast
as I did the first one!
These books tell the wonderfully
romantic tale of a vampire man and a
human woman, who becomes his prisoner after being captured during a battle.
They fall in love....

(The Captive Series, #2)
Trade Paperback, 204 pages

(The Elysium Chronicles #1)

Young Adult Fiction

The cover of this one pulled me right in,
and then I fell in love with
the dystopian plot!
It involves an underwater 'utopia',
with a romance between
a Surface Dweller and a Daughter
of the People...

Trade Paperback, 352 pages
Simon & Schuster Children's Books
March 29, 2012
Paranormal Romance, Urban Fantasy,
Young Adult Fiction

This cover, too, caught my eye
right away, with all that blue!
This is a love story involving a young girl
and boy, in an English seaside town.
The boy, however, happens
to be a ghost....

Yes, these are really awesome covers, aren't they? I don't know what happened to my first set (they're probably somewhere in this library I live in, lol), and I wanted to have these right near me. Now I do!

I'll be checking out your STS posts. Thanks so much for commenting!! :)

  9. Hey, Brian!

I first read Tolkien in this edition, and bought these books around the same time you bought yours. However, I don't know where they are... They're probably somewhere in this massive library I live in. Lol. I kid you not -- I probably own around 3,000 books! Well, anyway, I wanted to have them near me again, and I liked the fact that they came in a slipcase! The box shows a little wear, but the books inside are BRAND NEW!!! I REALLY lucked out!!

As you can see, this particular edition has nostalgic meaning for me. I just HAD to get it!!

    Thanks for commenting!! :)

  18. Great haul.

The Lord Of The Rings is one of those special series of books that deserves to be part of a collection, but then to get hold of a set like the one you got is something special.

  19. We have the original artwork for these book covers! I am so happy to find your blog because you educated me more about Barbara Remington's painting. I don't want to put links in your comments but if anyone is interested in seeing it let me know- you can look up Fletcher Gallery October 20, 2013 auction in Woodstock, NY.
