Waiting On Wednesday #49: Foretold, by Jana Oliver

This is a weekly book meme, hosted by
which features future releases that
we book bloggers
are eagerly anticipating!

Here's my pick for this week!

Foretold
(The Demon Trappers #4)
Jana Oliver
Paperback, 352 pages
St. Martin's Griffin
Expected Publication:
December 11, 2012
Genre: Romance, Urban Fantasy

Goodreads Synopsis

Now that Riley’s managed to (just barely) fend off Armageddon, everything’s changed. Well . . . most things. After their passionate kiss before the big battle in the cemetery, Beck is back to treating her like a little girl, as if nothing ever happened. While she’d love to just tell him off and move on, Riley vowed to take care of Beck the way he’s taken care of her since her father’s death—but she’s about to get a whole lot more than she bargained for. When she’s commissioned to go with Beck to his hometown and help him care for his dying mother, they stumble too close to a dark and murderous secret, one that Beck fears will drive Riley away from him forever. As chaos breaks loose, Riley may be Beck's only hope for redemption . . . and survival.

Even though I am not a wholehearted fan
of this series, I do think
it has a lot of things going for it.
One of these things is the
roller-coaster relationship
between Riley and Beck.
Another is Riley's love for her father,
the Master Trapper who is taken
from her much too soon,
and whom she tries her best to rescue
from a horrible non-existence.
Besides, I've gotten this far in the series,
I might as well see it all
the way to the end!
And I'm so hoping to see
Riley and Beck settle all their
differences and finally realize
that they truly do love each other!!
(Besides, that cover is just
too gorgeous to pass up!)

What do you think of my choice?
What fascinating books
are you all eagerly awaiting
this week?

  1. Hey Maria - I guess this series is a combination of the supernatural with a little bit of futuristic "the world is getting chaotic?" If so that is in interesting mix.

I also see that this is book 4 in the series. I think that these series can be fun even if they go on and on as long as the characters stay interesting and as long as there is some suspense as to what will happen. It sounds as if this is true thus far for these books as you mention.

  3. I have a copy of Forsaken but I haven't read it yet. I've read a lot of mixed reviews so I'm still having second thoughts. Glad you still liked it though. Thanks for sharing, Maria!

  5. I've only read the first book in this series-- The Demon Trapper's Daughter-- but I did basically enjoy it. The summary tipped me off right away that something finally did happen with Riley and Beck!!-- it was only hinted at in the first book. I think this cover is the most beautiful in the series yet, too. Great choice, Maria!

  6. Hi Maria, I've come back to thank you for your nice comment on my blog! It's nice to feel appreciated sometimes!!
I love ANYTHING paranormal, but I have been venturing out reading some other things when there is heaps of Hype about it, I need to see what the fuss is about!
My sister has done most of the work on my blog, she is awesome, and your blog is the first I've come across with the same background! Great minds....

Anyway, thanx for the visit, hope to talk soon...

  7. Hey, Brian!

Yes, the setting for these books is a rather bleak, futuristic Atlanta, Georgia. And there are not only demons, but zombies, as well, which I'm not very happy about, since I dislike these creatures. However, in this particular series, they're not the mindless, flesh-eating kind.

Anyway...the books are all very well-written, and the suspense IS indeed GREAT!! Also, there's a love story -- sort of -- being devleloped throughout the books.

Although I do object to the presence of zombies (these are more 'civilized', but still) I have enjoyed the books so far, and want to finish the series.

    Thanks for commenting!! : )

If you really liked the first book, you'll love the other two, as this last one, I'm sure! I'm looking forward to seeing Riley and Beck finally come to the realization that they're truly meant for each other!! I also want to see the forces of evil finally defeated!!! YES!!!!

And I totally agree with you -- this cover IS, indeed, the most beautiful of teh four!! But that doesn't surprise me. After all, there's BLUE in it!!!!
