Here's my choice for this week!

Paperback, 242 pages
January 18, 2012
Genre: Contemporary Romance,
Suspense

Why do I love this cover?

Blue...what is it about this color that always captivates me?  Perhaps I love it so much because it's the color of the sea and the sky.  It also gives me a feeling of peace, as well as one of timeless infinity...

Aside from the gorgeous color, I love the combination of images on this cover.  The couple's faces are juxtaposed with the ocean depths.   A lone diver is swimming in the middle of the cover, followed by a burst of light that's placed just below the man's lips.  This is an inspired composition!  It not only gives readers an inkling of what the novel is about, but also creates a dynamic tension between the romance and whatever is lurking in the ocean depths.  Needless to say, it takes quite a bit of talent to do that!

Contributing to the appeal of this cover is the equally gorgeous font used for the word "surface".  I like that this word is emphasized, while the rest of the title is done in a simple font.  It makes that word really stand out.  Also, the smudges intentionally placed in the letters, as well as the leafy ornamentation on the "f" and the "a"  suggest images of sunken ships, perhaps laden with forgotten treausure...

To sum up, this cover pulled me in right away!  I've already received this book from the author, and I'm going to participate in a Review Blitz for it, on July 18th, as part of a blog tour with Innovative Online Book Tours!   (See my sidebar.)

The very talented photographer/designer
for this cover is
Kim Mendoza.

    1. Hi, Steph!

Oh, I agree -- I love covers with images of water! They are either soothing, disturbing (I find this one to be in that category, although I still love it), or exciting. They are NEVER boring!

I found out about this book through IO Tours. The author sent me a review copy, which I wasn't expecting, since I hadn't signed up for this tour. Well, the author's gamble really paid off, because I ADORED the cover on sight, and fell in love with the plot after I had skimmed the novel. So I signed up for the tour!

You're very welcome for the share, and thanks for another lovely comment!! <3

  2. Great cover! I love the colors, too. But I also love the fact that the photo is taken from below, looking up to the surface of the water and the light that shoots through the water. Without knowing anything about the book, it does make me curious to know what the couple has to do with the diver. Nice pick!

And thank you for the wonderful comment you made on my blog today. I love participating in these Shelf Candy posts and seeing what inspires other readers and the covers they pick. And, of course, I love that I get to meet fantastic bloggers like you! :)

You're right -- it IS nice that the photo was taken from below! It gives the cover a rather eerie effect. Glad you like my pick!
