Here's this week's question:

How have your reading habits changed since you were a teen? or If you are still a teen what new genres are you in love with currently?

I remember I would read obsessively when I was a teen.  In other words, I had my nose in a book every chance I got!  I would always carry a book around with me.  This continued right on into college.  Nowadays, my two jobs prevent me from reading as much as I used to, which is a constant source of frustration for me!!  But I still carry a book around with me everywhere I go!  In fact, I carry more than one, because I have a tote that I take to work, along with my purse, so I can bring back books that I've ordered online, and have arrived at my work address!!  (That's so hubby won't get on my case about my spending so much money on books!  He never looks inside that tote!  Lol.)

As for the second question, I think it's applicable to anyone, not just teens.  The funny thing is, I used to read more adult novels when I was an adolescent than I do now!  What happened was that I got into the Harry Potter series, which I totally love, and then The Twilight Saga, which I also love!!  That was it, for me.  I started reading more YA books, like the Fallen series, and I have just finished Cascade, from the River of Time series.  So now I'm totally hooked on the genre!   Although I still read adult fiction, and review both adult and young adult books, it seems that I'm reading primarily young adult fiction now.  I find the genre very refreshing in its presentation of themes that can actually be considered adult, without all the vulgar language and extremely graphic sex scenes.  Besides, I love reading about the problems and issues of students in high school, since my own high school years were not at all happy or memorable...

In the last few years, the young adult genre has really come into its own.  It's now taken much more seriously than it was just a decade ago, for instance.  Much of the credit for this goes to two of my favorite authors -- J.K. Rowling and Stephenie Meyer!  There are many more terrific authors in the genre, though, such as Meg Cabot, Maggie Stiefvater, Libba Bray, Cassandra Clare, Lisa Bergren, L.J. Smith, Andrea Cremer, Julie Kagawa, Christopher Paolini, Courtney Allison Moulton and so many others!

These are my favorite YA books!

J.K. Rowling

Stephenie Meyer

(This collection also includes the
Bree Tanner novella,
which takes place in the Twilight universe.)
